Well said People far to spoilt
And naive.

Just how fucking easy do people think it is, it's not fucking vinted.

Oh, douglas luiz, Juventus are practically giving him away to us. Get fucking real, they paid like 40m+ for him just 6 months ago, think of the optics of giving that away on a free loan midway through the season in his first year there. They would at the very least give him a full season and then some, or want to at least get their money back in the form of an obligation to buy. What player gets loaned to a top club CL rival the first few months into their contracts. Same with Zubimendi, yeah just tell him to come (assuming we are interested), all good, he just needs asked. Or Ederson, yeah Atalanta have no ambition of their own and will just roll over when we come because our key player got injured.

And Funny how some think Txiki is just at home on the phone throwing in a random bid, having his tea then checking his phone to see if it’s been accepted or not. txiki and his team will be having daily meetings with them for hours I persume discussing everything involved. He’s not doing all this via text.

Signing Marmoush should have little to no impact on our supposed efforts to sign a DM, and Haaland more or less being the only one delivering goals regularly is also a big concern.

With that said, we've known for months that we desperately need a quality DM. We are one of the richest clubs in the world, with possibly the biggest scouting network in the world. That the club despite all this has failed to identify and sign a single midfielder halfway trough January, with a schedule of PSG/Chelsea/Brugge/Arsenal coming up starting next week and our season more or less could be over after this run of fixtures, its hard to argue thats anything but another failure in the transfer market. It's time the club start actually solving our issues instead of "working" on them. They've had months to solve our issues and are paid huge money to deliver. We are now just a few days before what could be a season defining run of fixtures and no reinforcements have arrived. I get that its hard to do business in January, but thats simply not good enough.
Do we need a DM? It was critical when Rodri and Kovacic were both injured but now Kovacic is back. Rodri might return in May, and O'Reilly looks very promising. It's highly unusual in a 25 man squad to have 3 senior players per position. A short term loan might in theory work but how often do loans work and who loans a top midfielder. The players who are loaned out are usually problematic players like Rashford. Foden's form is improving after a very difficult start to the season, likewise Savinho. Oscar Bobb is a very talented player and has returned to training. I think he was the reason we allowed Alvarez to leave.

New signings are not eligible to play in the Champions League qualifying stage, and even if they were they would need a period of adaptation.

In my opinion, the priority is a defender and attacking player. Stones, and Ake are injury prone, and Gundogan and de Bruyne need to be replaced. If you want to be critical, you might wonder why O'Reilly and Mcatee have not played more Premier League games.

How do you know it wasn't a priority?

It is January ffs, a difficult window at the best of times, never mind when unexpected clubs with emerging good players on long term contracts are challenging for important places. Nobode needs to or wants to sell.

Honestly, if we can actually pull off the 3 signings that are rumoured to be in the works, on top of Echeverri also coming in, it will be an incredible January the likes of which have never been seen and might not be for a long long time. And people are upset that we arent signing players, when in the last 10 january windows we signed maybe 2 in total.
Because we’re over two weeks into the window (after watching the lack of midfield cost us for nearly 3 months) and there hasn’t been any kind of strong link with us to a DM.

Therefore the huge hole in the side remains and continues to cost us points we can no longer afford to drop.

The other signings are positive of course but I don’t think you can say it’ll have been a window of the like never seen before. How much are the young defenders actually going to play?

Cannot rely on kova, his injury record is just as poor as everybody else. I would be trying to draft O’Reilly now into that position.

I am still struggling to understand how we are chasing a player that potentially we don’t need as we have players who can fill this void. The most obvious position which stands out a mile is the DM role, gundo and kova cannot play this role and teams are just exploiting this.
Wonder if Gvardiol will be used more as a DM ?

This signing would just the squad, club and fans such a boost wouldnt it?
Winning games is what matters. I think our bad run is over but injuries have left our small squad very exposed. We need players to replace Walker, Gundogan and KDB and much as I like Stones and Ake, how often do they play?

Savinho has taken half a season to adapt. Doku is still developing. Arguably Bobb has a higher potential than any forward signing but his development is not guaranteed

The best performing players in the Premier League are players from City's academy (Palmer, Rogers and Delap). I am a bit disappointed that Pep has not given O'Reilly and Mcatee more games.

What is this obsession with using cbs as midfielders?

We need legs and players who can do the role.
We have Rodri and Kovacic. It will be almost impossible to sign better players than this in the January window. City's problem is short term in this position. I don't think we should sign a player who from May will be redundant given that most players take months to adapt. If City could defend properly (Dias returning), or if we had attacking players who could play with more intensity, then we'd keep the ball better and win it back more often. I don't think there is enough realisation as to how costly playing KDB and Gundogan were in City's team. We cannot play both. We have improved now that Kovacic has returned, and we will improve further if Bobb returns on form, or if Marmoush comes assuming he is as good as his form suggests. Ideally KDB's fitness may improve a little with games / training. He has missed so much football.

Seems a bit odd going for a striker/forward as a priority. We have had a defensive crisis and seem to have issues feeding Haaland as it is. outside of some good competition for Haaland ( which is needed ) it seems as though this should be a lower priority compared to defence and central midfield.

Look at our Feb/march sequence of games re. the bad run being over....
