Of course I can (if it happens). I don't think people seem to know the difference between a summer window and a winter one. Name me a January window when we have signed 3 players commited to other clubs, to come into the first team. On top of Echeverri also coming in and Bobb returning from injury. That's a big big boost to the squad.

Look I don't disagree we need a DM one bit, or even that it should be the first thing to happen this window. But to assume the club haven't thought about it and aren't trying is just daft mate. We couldn't find one in the summer, it is even harder now in January. I think we may have to come to terms with the fact we may not sign one in the next two weeks.

Still won't be a failure of a window, not if we sign other players we also desperately need, particularly with such promise and demand.

We'd all loved to have seen a central midfielder stroll through the door as soon as the window opened. But that was never going to happen. We need real quality in that position and that's not easily obtainable in January. I'm certain the club haven't missed the glaring issue we have in the centre of the park, but we need to balance our need to resolve it with the need to get the right player in at a good price.

Knocking on the door on 1st of January is much more likely to lead to a fee spiralling than us securing the player we want. I would anticipate the club have a lot of feelers out there at the moment and are testing the waters before potentially striking later in the month. It might be a move that's reliant on a club signing a replacement first. Or we might be getting nowhere and will have to wait for the summer.

But silence doesn't mean we're not trying.

Not signing a DM would without a doubt be a massive failure and more or less a statement that we have given up on achieving anything this season.

Signing 3 players (assuming we do) and Pep extending his contract is a statement of giving up. Ok pal.

Then find a short term solution. The most important season is always the current one.
Not to mention "not available" just means more expensive.
No, we will want a player for the next 5 years not the next 5 months. If there is a short term solution then maybe, but most players available for a 5 month loan will be nowhere near ready to step into a Pep team and play as a 6.Luiz possibly could.

Signing two CBs for the future and not solving the massive need for a midfielder is more or less saying that we have given up this season and is preparing for the next one.

Agree. Plus, clubs want to play the clock down and that's not something we can do anything about.

Maybe frankfurt just want to posture to get 3 maybe 4 more crucial games out of Marmoush before cashing in, knowing fine well they can't replace him this window anyway. Maybe they really don't want to sell, and despite his supposed desire to leave, have him on 4.5 years so will only yield at the price they see worthwhile. Maybe Juventus are happy to let Luiz go on loan but want a summer fee guaranteed, and are happy to wait till we are desperate enough to agree to that. Or maybe they think he may show signs of working out for them within this month and are giving it one last go. Maybe Ederson wants to see what offers he will have in the summer, maybe he thinks he can win serie A and have a medal with him before he moves. Maybe Zubimendi really does just want to stay in spain, or move to London.

None of which means the club isn't trying.

In the meantime, we have other positions we need to address, should we just ignore them and stop everything else until we sort out a DM first because that is the BM declared order things must be done in?

Because the defence needs more attention. If we had that side of the game sorted then Foden's two goals would have been sufficient in getting the win at Brentford.
Really not as patient as you! Gvardiol has been our 2nd highest scorer which is quite alarming for the champions no? Your so flatcap - we are signing 2 defenders also so you've totally lost me

I guess he means Diaz on loan from Juve. I don’t think he is the long term answer but if we can’t get anyone else he is better than nothing,
I just don't get how people can possibly think that a club like Juventus, would let a player like Luiz, go to a club like us, on a short term loan to fix our problems with no commitment, just because he hasn't fully kicked on less than 6 months after arriving. He would have to kicknup Cancelo levels of fuss, at which point we probably wouldn't want him anyway.

If no good short term solutions can be found, find a long term one. Not buying any of this "no one is available", everyone is available if we pay enough. Will most likely be expensive but thats the price of doing bad business in previous windows. If the team is not performing on the pitch it's more important to solve that then getting the best value on signing a player.

Just find one, easy. You do understand other teams and the players need to agree to a transfer as well don't you ?

That is debatable. I disagree, and I think it is daft to assume the club haven't considered things or aren't 'trying'

Signing two CBs for the future and not solving the massive need for a midfielder is more or less saying that we have given up this season and is preparing for the next one.
This however I think is just plain wrong. With or without Marnoush in the mix.

I'm not questioning if the club have considered things or saying that they aren't trying. I'm saying that it means nothing if they dont solve it and deliver solutions. Just as it means nothing if a striker is trying to score goals if his not scoring.

Fortunately our club doesn't tend to look at short term fixes. That's no business strategy. And over paying for one player will lead to us having to pay more for any other players we want to sign too which is also not a strategy the club will follow. We will be accepting of the fact there's an uplift in January but we'll still have an overall business plan and a strategy beyond this window to address the issue we have. We won't sacrifice the bigger picture by panic buying now, and quite rightly.

We are one of the richest clubs on the planet, with the biggest scouting network in the world as our help, being the most successful team in the most attractive league in the world. I get that it's not super easy to do business in January. But the idea that it would be completely impossible for us to sign a competent midfielder is laughable.
