A lot of people may disagree with this, but I wouldn't hate a James Maddison for Jack Grealish swap.

I'm a big fan of Grealish but it seems it may be time for some new ideas. For both club and player.

I've seen speculation that Spurs have sniffed around the idea of Grealish as of late, and Maddison is not in the lineup again tonight. I think we could use his directness and hunger while we find ourselves again. Would be a good lad to have around in my opinion. He's also looked really sharp when he's been involved since joining Spurs. Injury issues of course, but I can see the fit. He gave us the run around last time out.

Not sure they’ll even replace Grealish with Marmoush coming.
Doku though hasn’t touched the pitch for the past 3 league games so they might be tempted to bring in another winger.

To be fair, we could blatantly see that we needed a strong Phillips replacement/Rodri back-up in September 2023 when Rodri got sent off and we lost all three games without him. That was rubber stamped in November 2023 when Rodri picked up his 5th booking of the season and missed the Villa away game which we put in our worst ever performance under Pep without him.

We’ve thrown away a calendar, put up a new calendar, thrown that calendar away and put up another new calendar since then.

We once had Fernandinho and Rodri; Fernandinho and Fernando; Fernandinho and García; de Jong, Barry and Vieira; even Bosvelt and Sun Jihai… we currently have nobody.

This nobody must be a player if he's replaced all those before him. No need to keep looking anymore then. Better spend our dosh on another defender.

Kovacic is absolutely wank in the 6. Bottom line.

When we were looking at buying him I said on here I dont rate him and he’s lazy. I took the view he was lazy as every time I’d watched him for Chelsea he was “too far away” from where he needed to be positionally. I took that as him being lazy.

Having watched him for a while now I was wrong. He isn’t lazy he just doesn’t understand the defensive “where I need to be” bit of playing CM.

He’s not a 6 and never will be. Its actually a bit cruel playing him there but tbh we don’t have much option atm.

He might be wank but he is the best option.
Since he come back into the team we are actually unbeaten i think compared to the carnage when he was out injured and Gundog was asked to do it

whenever I saw Kovacic at Chelsea Kante was doing the hard work next to him or behind him to clean up. I would imagine a profile like that allows Kovacic to do his tidy turns, bit of possession, moving up without the risk leaving spaces behind him as Kante was like there to sweep up in case of trouble.

put him in number 6 again vs PSG and we gonna get done badly. they are levels better than Brentford.

Probably, that said I’m reading the Pep book and up to when we bought Mendy, he was planning to play Walker Mendy and 3 centre backs, with the 3 rd centre back stepping into midfield in possession to make it almost 2 at the back in possession.
Maybe if we can’t find the right DM he is thinking of reverting back to that plan, just a thought.

Well Stones could do it if fit, and soulnds like Reis may be that player in the future and could Nunes play wingback, maybe.
Anyway just an idea that jumped into my head because I’ve just read the Mendy Walker stuff in the book, so most likely not on the cards at all. ( Unless it is) probably isn’t might be though. :)

The Gundo addition was the problem. Once he put Gundo on , his mind was on Mcatee wanting more minutes and egging to leave. So he put him on late.

Frankly, based on performance, you wanted, O'Reilly and Jack coming in. Can hold the ball and have some fight in them..

Mcatee didn't add anything to a team already ahead. Should he have started? Maybe. But there was no reason to bring gim on based on his senior history.

Taking Foden off because he doesn't like players scoring hat tricks was not ideal either
