Chelsea were doing it for amortisation reasons. That’s gone now though as they changed the rules.

I imagine it might be the new thing for players seen as pivotal and high value as Haaland though.

This club has a hold on players. Even when players leave they still interact and like things to do with City. It’s a proper family atmosphere compared to other clubs. Cancelo was a dick but he still speaks positively about the club and his time here

Gundo a major example went to Barca and missed everything about us and wanted to come back.

I think City fans underestimate what a great club this is not only to manage but to play for. Great fans who don't instantly get on the teams back if results are not good, educated enough to know you can't win all the time. A board that backs the manager and doesn't interfere, but backs you totally, it's a dream job. Compare that to the rags or dippers, utter deluded twats from top to bottom.

Yeah its restricted to 5 years now. On the length of this one, I’m not sure the benefit outweighs the risk.
