Exactly....Doku has free license to run at people and take them on and he does it....Sane did it likewise...so did Sterling

What people forget about Grealish is that he was overrated by so many before he came here.....he was never a great dribbler of the ball (he is a ball carrier and there is a difference). Greliash doesnt have the skill to beat people and never has had and never will have on a regular basis....unlike the likes of Doku, Sane, Sterling and Marmoush. Blaming Pep for that is just ridiculous. Grealish isnt brave enough, never has been creative and isnt a particularly good crosser of the ball....even Savinho in his short time here so far has moved way ahead of Grealish in all these metrics
While I agree to some extent with your assessment of Grealish's qualities, he has little or no control over the position in which he's asked to play. Comparing him with orthodox wingers is like comparing apples with pears. On the rare occasions Jack has been given free rein in midfield, we've seen some of the attributes that so excited fans when he was the lynchpin in Villa's team i.e. a midfielder with superb close control in tight spaces, excellent at bringing the ball out of deep positions and with the vision and passing accuracy to unlock opposing defences. Most importantly perhaps, Jack was trusted as a leader, something we've been sadly lacking this season and a role he's clearly unable to perform while deployed out wide. Let's not forget that some of the best midfielders in world football haven't necessarily had the skills to regularly dribble past defenders. I'm not suggesting he's up there with the very best; only that it's unfair to be drawing such comparisons when arguably we've not had the privilege of regularly seeing what he's capable of in the role best suited to his abilities.

However, we have always had better players in those positions and Grealish has done nothing to suggest he could even get close to usurping them. He does have good control in tight spaces...(so does Doku, Sane Savinho, Oscar Bobb, Bernardo, Foden, David Silva, Berardo Silva and Mahrez - all equally as good if not better in some cases).
Excellent at bringing he ball from deep - unfortunately he had KDB, Gundo and even Kovacic who are better than him at this.
Vision to unlock defences - sorry - Ive never seen this from him on a regular basis...you dont have to be in a central position to make those passes - this supposed attribute is a not accurate...he is not good at unlocking defences and is worse than any of those mentioned above and others.
Leader? Kompany was a leader, Dias and Rodri are leaders. Gundo as well. Ive seen nothing to suggest Grealish is a leader of any sort
he is good at holding onto the ball, buying fouls and slowing the game down and helping maintain possession - but so are many others who have other skill sets that Grealish doesnt have

The reason we have not seen him in the central role is up to this season we have had way better than him for that central role. He has been lucky to be part of this team imho and many other players could have played the role he has.

True, but it can have an effect. In 2011-12, I’m pretty sure Toure was away for the duration and in that time we lost to that lot in the FA Cup and then couldn’t beat Liverpool in the League Cup.

We’ll get by, of course, but we’ll also need to have thought of an alternative striking option for that period in case anything should befall Haaland. If the last two seasons have taught us anything, it’s that we need to be thinking belt and braces.
as someone else posted..it meanshe also gets a rest from some of the summer tournaments

I think Jack has a lot of ability but whether it is a loss of confidence due to injury or just not being good enough to be in the team when he is fit I don't know but is isn't Pep's coaching.
It aint Peps coaching - others have massively thrived and improved...Grealish has never been the player some think he is ... he is overrated

Well, as I've already implied, I respect your view but continue to disagree on the grounds that we'll never know whether Jack can resurrect a career that was so promising at Villa if he continues to be played in a position so unsuited to his best qualities. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Romano saying it’s been agreed between the clubs that this is a £63.4m ‘total package’ (whatever that means).

For our transfers the press has a habit of summing up every possible cost imaginable. Transfer fee + bonus + each year of wages + bus fare expenses to the Etihad + the new paint needed for every time he will hit the crossbar in the next 5 years.
