Ipswich Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Bloody had to go out for a family meal & missed this. Never saw this result coming. Looking forward to motd for a change.

Can’t believe we are back in top 4, what have the other clubs been doing since we have been dropping so many points
It's a pretty weak league this season. Only TMM have been any way consistent. And they're not that great a team, either. Nowhere near the Centurions, or the 18/19 City teams. Arsenal don't have the mentality to win the league, they're a squad of bottlers. Pretty much ditto for Chelsea. We've fucked up this season, unfortunately. As for Spurs and "TWGC"™; behave. I'd like to see Forest "do a Leicester" and actually win it, but I just can't see them overhauling TMM.

Nice performance - I was amongst those worried by the midfield, and there was an early moment where Ipswich broke quickly and got Delap in, but Ruben pushed him wide, slowed him up and despite then being turned, gave others time to cover - after that there was just the free header to worry us.

As has already been said, the difference was Kov & Gundo staying close to one another but also Nunes on the right wing allowing Foden to come in and became part of a 2x2 midfield box - that strengthened the whole centre and created the platform to attack from. And of course Foden starting in the centre put him in the right place for both goals.

Not sure this shows everything is getting back into shape - Ipswich are very poor and better teams will still expose our weaknesses. But there are promising signs and KdB and Foden returning to fitness and form and reinforcements arriving. It will be interesting to see how and when they fit in. And whether we can break away from the group sitting 5th-8th to secure a top four place and then become the dangerous lower seeded team no one wants to draw in the Champions League.

Great analysis

I've got to admit that I didn't think starting both Kovacic & Gundogan would work very well but that's perhaps why I'm not manager of City !

A really good all round performance. Bring on PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal..... gulp :-)

Sorry but not read whole thread but remember when it Nicky weaver v Richard wright for England number 1 and it pissed down match abandoned.and didn’t Dennis score six against these cunts and that got abandoned as well.sorry pissed

Gundogan played really well but guess many didn't notice, as it went against their expectations.

Doku was involved in the first 5 goals, MOTM for me. With him, Savinho, Foden, Haaland, Bobb, KDB and Marmoush we have incredible depth in attack. Grealish and McAtee can contribute, too.
It's worth noting as well that most of the players listed are on the younger side, too

well done City for this result. I only saw the second half as was at the women's game (the less said about that the better). We looked good second half, kept moving the ball forward and there was some good movement, loved McAtee's goal, it was a thing of beauty, good all round play. Yes Ipswich were quite poor but so have a number of other teams been this season but we still managed to struggle against them.
Hopefully we can move on from this and get a result midweek, that really would give us some momentum.
Good use of subs by Pep today.
