Ipswich Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

If we can go on a long run and l/pool drop points..........you just never know come May.
City pulled back an eight point lead from United in 2012 in six matches.

They also did the same from a substantial United lead in 1968.

I wish I could say the same about Liverpool this season.

Never mind Liverpool have won one League title in the last 35 years. They are level with Blackburn and Leicester here but behind City, United, Chelsea, and even Arsenal.

Impressive dismantling of a poor side that's managed to avoid taking batterings so far this season.

No need to go overboard mind, the quality of the opposition was heavily influential in that result and we'll need a massive step up again from that performance to be taking wins from our next fixtures.

Can never hurt having players find some good form though, kovacic was brilliant, kdb looked as fit as I've seen him for about 2 years, doku was frightening, foden is finding form and the back 4 with a much needed clean sheet. Plenty of rest into key players, hopefully no hidden injuries and it's a perfect set up to go into our must win CL game.

Can omly beat what's in front of you, and Ipswich are poor relatively. Truth is, we shoudln't care as we're back in the top 4. Doku was superb, and Foden, Gundo looked good, Kova scored a belter and we looked stronger everywhere but at right back, where Nunes did okay but clear it's not his best position, and without wanting to be negative on a great day he shouldn't be here at all.
That’s the spirit!

We need to be patient but wait until Echeverri explodes onto the scene. I believe he could be a sensation in these coming months.
It’s so exciting supporting our wonderful club.

Can I just say that’s my first away game this season go to all home and the travelling fans are unreal honest from start to finish they don’t stop great team performance today are we back ?????

Definitely a big improvement. Phil has woken up, which is nice.

noticed the commentators kept putting a disclaimer in that its only little old Ipswich and the clubs are world's apart. Like they won't be fingerings each other's arseholes in the commentary box if the dippers do a job on them.

Still aren’t pulling this league back. We would probably have to win every game and even then they’d have to drop a shitload of points. It’s good that we’ve started our rebuild and could have an exciting 2nd half of the season with 2 cups and top 4 to play for.

We’ve definitely improved lately but real tests to come with some really tough fixtures over the next few weeks.

that was a very good performance, and a great result.

Ipswich definitely set about us the right way, direct runs straight through the middle combined with overloading Gvardiol at left back, saw them have a good opening 20 mins i thought. They just had very little quality but after Phil's 1st, City had it.

lots of positives, nice to see Kovacic positionally shackled a bit - i think that works better for him (and the team) - and the Doku/KdB interaction was a joy. Gvardiol's short passing still seems to be all over the place, but can't get eveything fixed at once!

So much better from City this. Far less passive and back to our aggressive best winning second balls and forcing mistakes while pinning the opposition in. Perspective, yeah, with the games to come but some good signs

Peak fitness & condition is so important for elite players like KDB.

They can perform trusting their bodies.

We are seeing clear signs of that now with more of the squad....with more to come.

Big 6 weeks upcoming.....again !!

In 1996 Newcastle were 12 points in front of utd in January the same month as we are in now .
We all know what happened Keegan had a I would love it if we beat them meltdown away at Leeds in April, don't know how many points utd were behind at that time , but they went on to win the League.
One thing for sure even tho I think this Liverpool team is better than that Newcastle team they are still prone to the odd slip up.
Can be done but it will be very very hard.
Just taking one game at a time in the league and cups .
We are in for another ride .
