So because 29 years ago, an inexperienced side had a big lead and then threw it away means we now have a chance in 2025. Get in, lets book the parade!

We was going into the latter stages at Brentford with a two goal lead and drew. They was going into injury time drawing with them and come out 2-0 winners. Them kind of moments will be the difference this season and you can't underperform for half a season and think you can turn it around. You are relying on slip ups firstly from Liverpool and Saturday was a glimmer of a chance which they got through. Them kind of games we need them to slip.

They won't win every game but we certainly won't either. With our form shifting and a few through the door we can have a solid second half of the season. Consolidate CL football and push hard in the CL and FA Cup. We can't win the league every year and certainly not after our first half of the season. I also don't mind the leagues we lose when we aren't really competing, much less stressful haha we never finish a close second in the tight races thankfully.
 
Given our erratic form of late I was a little concerned about this game, massive home game for a newly promoted club and for the first 15 mins or so I feared the worse, but we grew into it and there was some loverly passages of play happy with that
 
Great performance all round.

Much better with Father Rubin back in the team.

Both Gundo and Kova were great.

Glad Phil has bagged another 2 again, be great if he keeps this run up ;-)

Big shout out to Erl, his overall play has been getting a lot better, hold up play and passing.

Glad another boyhood blue scored for the team with James McAtee.

Totally agree with your main point. Don’t agree that this season’s dippers are better than the 95/96 Geordies. It’s always hard to compare teams from different eras but man for man that Newcastle team was far superior - they had some absolute superstars
 
Currently at Dubai Airport en route to Manchester and will be at PSG in midweek

Watched the United game in the Emirates Business Lounge at Melbourne Airport (surrounded by a group of French Tennis players returning from the Australian Open) and laughed so much a little drop of wee slipped out

Only saw the first 20 minutes of the City game but by the time we boarded it was 2-0

Loads to like there Foden, Doku, Gundo, Kova looking much more nimble but what set it apart for me was Dias back, at least 2 proper defensive blocks which could have been goals in previous weeks and KDB still out on his own in that kind of form, even winning tbe ball as well as the final pass for the assisr.

A question for you all from the Ipswich forums - do you think yeaterday was:

A) Man City fully turning up from the start, finding their gears and shifting through them - and you would have beaten anyone on that performance.

B) Ipswich had seen City’s weaknesses this season and in that first 20mins spell carved chances, but didn’t have the belief to score, a Town goal would have caused a City confidence drop and issues, and the game would have been different.

C) Ipswich were not good enough defensively and allowed Man City to play their intricate attacking game too easily - especially on their right side?!

Would love to get views??

Much more like it. Especially enjoyed seeing the runs through the inside forward channel, particularly with Doku putting KdB in behind. It brought back memories of 2017-8 with goals for Leroy and Raheem and/or Sergio. It was possible yesterday because players are returning to fitness. During our bad run few in the team looked capable of running at all but now the energy levels look to be getting back to normal. We have to allow for the fact that we were playing Ipswich but, even so, this was an impressive performance (the biggest PL win anywhere this season?). Playing Gundo and Kova together worked well but Chelsea next week may give us a guide as to whether it's advisable against tougher teams. But the best Sunday we've had for a while.
 
Very good viewing ground Portman Road (but fuck me the gaps between the safe standing rows were non existent, need to go on a diet!). What was apparent with the good view perspective was the energy from every member of our team, and Pep, absolutely up for it yesterday, against a team noted for their energetic style. Doesn’t necessarily show from the tv but the pressing high up the pitch was an absolute fucking joy to watch, Pep was as animated as fuck, constantly waving his arms manically to get the team higher up the pitch. Anyone saying KDB and Haaland don’t support the press is just wrong - they did it hugely less time, they are just doing it where they are told to, high up the pitch. Above all for me was our desire and energy yesterday, all of them, and with new players to come in the second half if the season looks really encouraging. Brilliant away end too

Mainly a mix of B and C with a little bit of A.
 
In terms of being back I thought yesterday felt a bit like Watford (A) in Pep's first season where it just clicked and you knew the season after we'd be ready.

Obviously this is in the middle of the season and the next 6 league games are brutal but I think there have been signs in the last 2 games with Foden and KDB performing.

i'm not sure you can separate A, B and C?

City did turn up....eventually (1st goal onward). Ipswich did go about things the right way until about the 20th minute. Ipswich in the end werent perhaps savvy enough defensively and i think we did have a bit more time on the ball than, say, against West Ham.

You did B, then A started to happen and C was there throughout.

A bit of everything to be honest, ITFC are not the worst club to be promoted (some worse ones have stayed up in previous seasons) but it was always going to be a struggle mainly because your rise was so fast, it might take you a few bites of the cherry in order to become an established PL team, but that is contingent on your owners investing in the club Brentford and Bournemouth are really good examples both historically very small clubs but with good management they have cemented their place

Although there is the doom scenario where you fall like a stone, Huddersfield, Bolton, Wigan, Reading etc
