Although the 4th goal didn't affect the result, the decision by VAR to award it shows what a bunch of incompetent wankers the officials are. It was only not offside if Gvardiol deliberately played the ball. It hit his shoulder, which clearly wasn't deliberate. The offside law even specifically mentions kicking or heading the ball.

A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately played* the ball... is not considered to have gained an advantage...

*‘Deliberate play’ is when a player has control of the ball with the possibility of:
passing the ball to a team-mate;
gaining possession of the ball; or
clearing the ball (e.g. by kicking or heading it)

We got pressed off the park by a better side, shit happens. We already know we aren't good enough to even be in this tournament at the moment, only a horrible format allows us to still be alive here.

All the focus should be on getting into top 4/5 and go again next year, with a midfield and squad good enough to compete in it

Come on, he's hardly there soaking up the praise for a goal that ended up meaning nothing. He's very honest in his assessment and not at all looking like he's there for the limelight. It's no privilege to be the face of a humiliating defeat.

I know they speak to all of them and just show us the ones where players actually engage with them, and if Jack plays it's often him because he just talks to them. But I would have liked to hear those words coming from one of our captains.

During game and in the immediate aftermath of games, it’s the sort of comment I’ve heard plenty over the years at the match, so I think its a bit rich to say match-going supporters can’t say similar here. In fact I’ve heard a lot worse and I’m sure you have too. You’re trying to curb an understandable frustration immediately after a game.

And yep, you’ll probably expect this, but I also as per @Beanhead don’t think the lad should be anywhere near our starting XI.
I do not for one moment question his commitment and desire to do well, but he simply doesn’t possess the skills set needed to be successful in a CL or top half PL team. I could list his weaknesses all over again, but I’d just be repeating myself.

Sadly agree. He is a squad player in the PL not a starter at city. No shame in that and I’m sorry he is being put in the situation of being exposed every week

I thought Nunes did OK tonight - in an unfamiliar role - he might even have covered the diving header on the back post that put them in the lead (nobody was marking him) as Stones came on for that corner.
