PSG (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Was at the game tonight pissed wet through and freezin. It was quite saddening to see some of our players in the twilight of their careers running through treacle in that 2nd half. Plus I’m struggling to see Rico with a future with us as he’s so easily knocked in ff the ball. PSG are not a brilliant team either but they were twice the athletes we were. There will be some average players propping us up until we rebuild over the next few seasons but it’s been an absolute fkin blast.
I was there too. Just got back to my digs. Agree 100% with every word you said.

I’ve never been a fan of his, he was lucky that their first ‘goal’ was offside as he put in no effort to stop it, but I do agree with your comments about being better alongside a partner who is a leader/ Organiser. I just see Akanji as a bargain basement back up, which is exactly what he was.
He never gets close enough to stop anything, regressed back to his Dortmund reserves form

Not surprising we lost considering they were basically just full of young energetic players, something we are going to continue to struggle with until we sort the midfield out.

Still in our hands with a win at home against Brugge. Honestly, if we can't even do that, what's the point of being in the competition anyways.

So much for that bollocks posted yesterday saying 1 or 2 points from the last 2 games would be enough.

I didn't believe it then yet now only a win and 3 points will do.

Who did the fucking maths Niall Quinn and Steve Lomas :-)
The maths is quite simple.
A draw tonight and a draw against Brugge would have seen us through.
A win tonight would see us through.
Now we have to win our last match against Brugge.

the mentality of the players is concerning this season as well when PSG got that first goal we all knew the team was most likely going to crumble

The big mistake was Nunes on the first PSG goal diving in, which totally exposed our right side. That first goal for them was so important. He does not do the basics and makes crucial mistakes at key moments. At 2-0 your first duty is to defend and not to expose yourself to PSG's pace in transition. Some players understand their role in key game situations, others make the same mistakes and do not learn from their errors. It is the difference between a top player and an also ran. I expect him to be dropped for the next game as these sort of mistakes are not acceptable at the top level. If we had not conceded so early after our goals, there would at least have been a chan̈ce of getting a crucial draw.
It's a tough one having a go at Nunes for not getting his right back role figured. If we put any other midfielder in that position it would be a bigger mess. I seem to remember Ferna being destroyed at right back. It's on Pep and only Pep for choosing to play him there

So we’ve got to the stage of beating Brugge or bust ? I wouldn’t bank on us beating fucking Wrexham at this moment in time , we won’t win the completion full stop, the malaise is there for all to see - this team is finished , too many cigar smokers now , and you can see it on the pitch each game, legs have gone , they’ve given their all , and i will always thank them for the past 6 seasons solid. I’d take so many PSG players right now in a city shirt , hunger and desire and pace .

He’s not a full back and never will be. The only position he looks just about ok is left wing. Nonsense selection by Pep. The match doesn’t need complex analysis…. Paris out ran and out fought us. We didn’t win any 50/50 balls. Game over. Look forward to next season

Marquinhos I think it was mate you're absolutely right. Play continued for about 2 minutes before going out but he should have been booked, think the ref must've forgot somehow.
Why aren’t our players telling him more vocally

They are as weak as piss at the moment

Back in digs in Paris, pissed wet through and pissed off

do not underestimate Brugge. not after this run of CL results we had. we have only beaten two cannon fodders that almost everybody else beaten too. Bratislava lost 7 of 7.
Brugge aint that category.

more like same strength as Feyenoord who didnt give up even at 3-0 down at Etihad and today taught a lesson to Kompany-Bayern too.

having said that for City not to qualify from this set of draw we got which I was very happy at the draw as looked easier than what some other teams got (look at PSG's draw for comparison) is absolute embarrassing and Pep's worst ever result in his career. he never failed to get to last 16 of CL except the season he spent in New York on sabbatical lol.
. and now this isnt even about last 16 its basically just last 24
its a lot easier to be top24 of 36 (66% of team) than 16 of 32 (50%).
I fucking laughed at rags friends of them getting that 4th place behind Galatasaray, Copenhagen in their CL group 12 months ago.

but us now to be saying goodbye to CL along the likes of Young Boys, Bratislava, Sturm Graz that is just as bad. it just cannot fucking happen. yet it can if we fuck up one more game.
