There’s no new KDB. KDB along with Messi from the last generation are pretty much irreplaceable. Once in a generation player, probably the best attacking midfielder to ever play in England. Look at his creative stats for this season, he’s an old man, hasn’t played that much and he’s still better than everyone else.Bracola first goal was a perfect embodiment of what we need in this squad.
While he was running towards the goal I saw Kovacic and Nunes running behind him and were clearly outpaced. Then he met the CB which was easily dispatched and then comes the cutback and goal.
In prime Pep’s team, there was Rodri instead of Kovacic closing him and ready to commit a tactical file. A fullback like Walker going side by side instead of a half cooked Nunes and at CB we had Dias or Stones ready to tackle before Bracola gets a chance to cut in.
And don’t forget a prime KDB or BSilva tracking back and getting the ball if all of the above contingencies failed.
So a good 4-5 new players who can run and we may not have conceded those goals.
A fullback A CB ( we got two now) a CDM ( we need two and have zero) and another Bsilva or KDB to track back and help the team.
Because of the misses in the last few windows - that’s another 300-400 million spends from the look of it.
Because the new KDB if it exists would cost a north of 120 million atleast ( read Wired or Musiala).

So do we wait until the summer for the midfielder(s) we want for the next 5 years. Or find some make do midfielder now? It would be nice to get the right one now but better to wait if we can’t, and maybe a last minute loan is the best we can do.No midfield players fuck off with the bullshit

Said on one of the threads in December we should have 2 midfielders lined up to sign at 00.01 on NYD and if we pissed about until the end of the window it'd be fucking criminal & would be like throwing the whole season away....
Well that's what's happening. Yes we need defensive buys, the whole squad needs money & quality but, putting the equivalent of alloys on a car when the engine is fucked is rather pointless.

This window is only the start of what needs to be done. Becoming clearer now what's required.All this fanfare for the 100+ million spent in the window is bollocks. With them 3 signings, nothing will change. The 2 kid centre half’s will affect nothing and that’s if they even play.
Obvious problems in midfield where KDB is the one who is out running and put more effort in than all the others, but we seem to be ignoring the obvious.
10th at best this season, next 6 or 7 PL games will be awful and I very much doubt we will overcome Brugges

Midfielders should have been the priority in this transfer window, We are crying out for midfielders and yet we sign two centre backs...
No doubt we'll try square pegs in round holes now until we get to the summer, Now isn't the time to be experimenting, We need results, We need to finish in the top four places.

The midfield issues are well documented and its frustrating that our players have been incapable of adapting their game or Pep finding a solution. The warning signs were evident last season in the three games Rodri missed. Nothing was done about it...
However, our defensive issues are just as significant. The back four that started the CL final was Akanji Stones Dias and Ake. Have they started a single game together this season? It can't be may if so. That's our strongest back four. Allows Stones to move into midfield. Injuries have absolutely decimated the back four and probably brought about some home truths that sadly, Stones and Ake (in particular) cannot be relied on to be fit when they are needed. Both have been fantastic servants and without injury concerns would be integral.
So, a glaringly obviously midfield issue that I sincerely hope will be addressed in January. If it means paying over the odds, well, needs must for the right player (I trust the club on that one, clearly).
The addition of two, very highly rated young centre backs is exciting. How much impact they can make this season remains to be seen, but if they offer rotation options in certain games, that at least might take the pressure of some players who are clearly playing when not fully fit.

I don't get the two centre back signings when we are an absolute shambles in midfield, That's not to mention we don't have a right back either...Walker is gone and Rico is nowhere near good enough.
I can't believe we aren't going all out for at least two midfielders, It's OK though we'll sign another mediocre midfielder on loan like Douglas Luiz! We'll do that whilst we continue to leave O'Reilly sat on his arse, The one midfielder we have that can actually get around a football pitch.
