City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

The longer it drags on, the more damaging it is to City, that's a win for many of our detractors.
Each side could now claim that the other has caused the delay: the PL will claim that City have caused it by refusing to accept the newly drafted rules, voted in favour by 16 clubs; City will claim that the PL knew that the rules were null and void and their refusal to accept that has necessitated a tribunal ruling.

Do you think they left certain points vague deliberately to perhaps let the dust settle?
Little by little they are forcing legality on PL thereby getting the PL influence on the media to accept a lower than a "hanged, drawn and quartered" verdict on City.
I don't know - I have no legal background - but there will be a big PR job to do if the PL lose completely.

Which may not exist anymore if the article linked in the previous one is correct. Every man for themselves?

It's written by a solicitor and one of his trainee solicitors, and is yet another of those 'the end of the world is nigh' pieces so beloved of some of our friends in the media. It somehow manages to make multiple false statements:
  • That sponsorship deals were unrestrained prior to the APT rules. They weren't.
  • That shareholder loans being brought into the APT rules represents an existential threat to clubs like Brighton & Everton. They don't as the worst case scenario is that they'll, have to account for notional, rather than actual, commercial interest on those. And in the best case, they'll be converted to equity, which has zero financial impact.
  • That the PSRs have any connection to true measures of financial sustainability. They dont
  • That the impact will be apocalyptic. It won't.
Apart from that....

I didn't say I agreed with it BTW although in my defence I am suffering a distinct lack of sleep due to the wife (and not in a good way). She then had me moving two sofas and everything else this morning to lay down an outsized rug. At least the weather has given me a good excuse to stay home, the bed is beckoning already.

Wow. What a euphemism! The mind boggles.

LOL. Stuff PSR, APT and FFP. I'm now more interested in what's going on with you, your wife, these sofas and the rug.

I’m still waiting for the “civil war” these cunts predicted when we first challenged these rules.

I’m getting sick to fucking death of seasoned veteran posters ignoring the pics rule.
