But recently (and only this season) he’s looked slow and generally lacking in energy. Can fully understand both the praise tonight and the recent questioning of him.

We won the game so it'll be forgiven. He looked totally lost not long after it - played a couple of short balls. I thought Bernardo done a great Captain's job thereafter by dropping into the space in front of the lad to take the ball and take pressure off him. Was telling him where he should be to get the ball.

He'll learn from that and move on.

Marmoush will be mint. Haaland is mint. Foden scoring but still not as involved as I'd like him to be but every goal helps and I think we will see him back to his best soon.

Gvardiol amazing for the duration of the match. Huge credit to Matheus Nunes. Runs his socks off and is slowly growing into a role he is not used too. Maybe just maybe the individual mistakes will be fewer and the positive contributions will multiply over time and suddenly we are looking at one of the first players on the teamsheet? He is a warrior.

Give over. Gundogan was always available, maybe a couple of misplaced passes, and an important part of that performance.

He fucked up, players fuck up, seasoned pros fuck up, ain't no biggie.
For all you gundog haters on here he was there with an arm round him when he got his yellow card and fair play to Jackson who give him a reassuring pat and maybe said don't worry it happens.

he got the mistake and booking in quick succession so it must have been tough, akanji and bernardo did a really good of protecting him and he settled well after that i thought
 
Khusanov gets a pass from me due to him keeping his shit together after a cataclysmic first ten minutes. Thought Pep handled that well. Hopefully the kid will use this experience.
Maramoush looked very good and notably supplemented the front line ..
 
Best performance in a while, the midfield problems are still very apparent but promising signs we are adapting to a more direct system to get the most out of our current personnel.

Nunes, Josko and Erling very good today and Stones made a big difference to the defence when he came on. Its a shame he almost feels like a temporary buff in a video game at this point with his fitness.

Marmoush looks very lively and helped our press look better than it has for a while. Kush showed character to get through his difficult start to show some promising signs. A good day at the office and a vital 3 points. The difference between being 7th and 4th tonight.
 
Fantastic result kept battling and great character with a touch of class .
