Away fans / tourists in home sections

What makes you think United don’t have partnerships to sell via online agencies like we do? They all follow the same tactics and it’s the third time it’s happened at the Theatre of Rats following PAOK and Galatasaray matches in last couple of years.

The rags may have similar deals but I'm surprised at the sheer number of Rangers fans in the home sections especially after the Galatasaray debacle last season. Even the thickest rag ticket administrator must have known a repeat was on the cards and should have dealt with the touting agencies accordingly.
I wonder what their 58 fans will do if they find out the tickets were supplied by touting partners.
The solution would be to force ST holders to attend Thursday League games, unless the club want the higher income from the touts of course.

Publicly they pretend they’re bothered, but privately I don’t think they care. Exactly the same as our lot
 
Having supported City for over 60 years I have watched away matches from the home end of numerous occasions.
If I couldn't procure a ticket from City I would do what I could to get one elsewhere.
Old Trafgford,Newcastle, Derby, Forest, Oldham, Bolton, Blackburn, Brentford, Qpr, Wimbledon (Palace), to name but a few, only had a scary experience once at the Swamp. At least 6 times been in home end there.
Did I do something wrong.

I'm guessing you didn't wear City colours and celebrate any goals?

I have done scores of away matches in the Home ends. It is the only way to get tickets for some games. But you have to keep your head down and don't take the piss. For some reason Celtic and Rangers fans seem incapable of showing even the barest respect to other football fans. I have never had a bad experience in a Home section even when those in neighbouring seats had sussed me out. For years at Liverpool I went in the right hand section of the Kop because the Anfield Road End was just too dangerous. That area was where the LFC FOC branch stood. I spotted plenty of other Blues in there in those years. It was the same in the Stretford End Paddock at the swamp.
 
The genie is well out of the bottle and I suspect was never in it in the first place. The old skool tout market is now legal and run by official online companies mainly selling to tourist/day tripper types. They will own hundreds of legitimate season tickets and just sell the seat game by game at a massive mark up. If you’ve paid £40 per game it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t sell for Brentford if you get £400 for it for Liverpool. Mostly this will manifest itself in half and half types or empty seats but occasionally a game will come where opposition fans are prepared to pay the mark up and you end up with what happenned on Wednesday.

It’s just part of modern football. Difficult for the club to police and ultimately a demand v supply issue. Can’t say it really bothers me. Can’t really remember seeing any obvious away fans near me apart from odd ones who get chased out.
 
Not only Brugge will be interesting but Liverpool, the independent tout agencies (who have their own season tickets or know people who may sell) and club affiliated agencies will be selling to the highest bidder - how many tickets that is not even City know. I too have sat in the away end (Utd, Stoke, Atalanta etc) behave and you are ok (ok Stoke not a good example when 20 city fans a bit to my left attracted a good number of Stokies who wanted to discuss the merits of relegation). But when there are a few of you sitting on your hands gets harder and the locals will think you are taking liberties. I must confess to jumping up when we scored at Southampton in that 0-1 relegation game but was only following the two Pompey fans who had come to the game just to see Paul Walsh, locals were fine though

Never wear colours for away games as usually have a drink, and mix with Home fans.
I had one bad experience at Old Trafford, did stupidly go up for a goal, was in Mainstand. A bloke came running down from a few rows back. As he tried to get along the row I was in, a massive copper who was sat next to my mate(who had got me a ticket) stood up and told the guy he was going to arrest him if he made one more step.
I was lucky on that occasion, but there again I always make a point of introducing myself as a blue, stay quiet(mostly), and show an interest in their club. Simple rules. I get tickets for the away end now luckily, but if I need to would have no hesitation in getting a ticket for the home end.

Gosh… will the club ever stop doing these stupid things? It’s not even money which goes to charity
 
Remember being at Old Trafford once in the Stratford end (think I paid 8 quid off a tout..). We scored from nothing and I accidentally jumped in the air. Whilst mid air I felt something hit the back of my head - meat and potato pie thrown from a distance, to be fair a good throw). I turned round to see 100s of eyes looking at me. I saw a copper so sidled over to him and it all passed peacefully

Yes a certain online agency had hundreds of tickets for sale dotted around the ground, mayhem when a big away support (17K applied) only gets a 4K allocation
 
Posted in the atmosphere thread but probably more relevant here…

One of them sat next to us in 102, up and celebrating when they scored, rapidly hoisted on his way by all, and for once Showsec were there quickly. Whatever he paid and from where (usually a SC holder there so I’m guessing the exchange/club) it was a lot for 3 minutes of football and a few slaps. And he dropped his hotdog……

BTW...I thought the rags encouraged and welcomed foreign tourists for the expensive tickets & under the lights waterfall experience.

The light bit is true, the checking bit most certainly isn't. They barely bother to look let alone take an interest, no doubt think their only paid enough to stand there and to take any action of any sort against anything would require a substantial pay rise!
I've seen it light up and thought he/she doesn't look like a concession, seconds later they escape into the ground.
