" It took fewer than six minutes of Abdukodir Khusanov’s debut for the £33.8m centre-back to be given a round of sarcastic applause for making a successful five-yard backpass to Ederson".

Part of a report from The Guardian. How can applause be sarcastic ? I don't understand how the reporter couldn't see that we clapped to give the lad confidence , given his shaky start .

It seems it's now fair game in the press to go in hard on a 19 year old debutant who has had one training session and can't speak English . Both reports , in this apology for a sports section , spend more time piling in on him than anything else . Why not talk about a truly limp performance from Chelsea (where Palmer goes MIA) and their car crash recent form or City's switch from possession based football to improvisation and route one .

Appalling and brutal approach. Let's hope the dressing room uses it .
Noticed that myself plus later in the report claimed insight into what many in the stands were thinking as though he’d gone and interviewed a sample of them

I'm genuinely amazed at the reaction to us signing 2 young defenders for £30m each, and Marmoush.
I guarantee most of those complaining had never heard of all 3 a month ago.
Not like we're signing 3 ready made world class players

Are we not allowed to sign anyone even though we're sitting with millions in the bank from the previous transfer windows when we sold players for big fees and didn't replace them?

Has Pep and the club not been criticized all winter for not freshening the squad up with younger signings when we were on top the last few years?
The daft twats who bang on about City buying success had never heard of Ederson, Rodri, Dias, Akanji, Ortega, Savino, Doku, Bernardo (and previously the likes of Fernandinho, Silva and Alvarez) before they signed for City.

Wow, I thought the fans were at their City best there and sensed he needed backing and gave it to him. Not the cold response he might have got at other places.Disgrace from the reporter pure lies.

The targeted attack on Kusanov is so funny. They are literally clutching at straws now.

He had a solid game bar the error. Have they focussed on his block to prevent it going 0-2?? Thought as much.

Do not listen, read or engage. I know I keep saying this but if you do, use it as a positive.

& Khusanov won’t read or hear any of it, lack of English isn’t always a disadvantage.

The Sherwood Effect seems to be spreading - give me sport on fb have removed 1 post in a thread i'm involved in about Sherwood, and it was the only post where someone stated the same thing as Sherwood.

These soft signals are spreading further and making me more and more confident of our success.

sherwood should be no longer employed by sky going forward, regardless of the awkward ill time apology what he said was libellous and they absolutely know it, if they continue to employ him to give his views then regardless of what they say they stand by those views
They stood by Carragher after he was caught spitting at a teenage girl so I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to sack this cockney prick.
