Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

For the first 25 minutes & buoyed by their shock opener, Chelsea's tails were bound to be erect. They targeted our right side as they saw Nunes was shaky & Khusanov was still rattled because of the goal & booking he conceded.

We were still buzzing around, but began to take control of the game from 25 minutes onwards once Chelsea's early effervescence began to fizzle out. The game being helter-skelter in the early exchanges wasn't specific to Gundog, but reflected the open nature of the match in general.
No its not all on him but even Pep has said he aint got the legs to recover.....he literally said this in his post match comments and that is a problem that people have been pointing out for weeks and weeks. it doesnt help that he is left loitering in the attacking third every time there is a change over in posession - we automatically end up a man light - he aint the only one but he is the worst offender for it. ...

he is a legend of this club - nothing changes that but he is past it and needs to be moved on....maybe even give him a coaching role within the club...he deserves to have whatever he wants except extended playing time

That’s what the grandson said to me.

I said that Erling has scored all sorts of goals, but I don’t remember one like that before.
Reminded me of one of Agueros finished....cant remember who it was against

Keeper was culpable but still an amazing world class finish...if the keeper is where he should be it doesnt happen however.

Sergio scored a similar one against Littlewoods, but I think the angle was more acute.

I remember the one against the scousers as you say it was much more of an acute angle.

There was another under Pep however that was a lot more similar

Agreed. I think we all know this'll be Ilkay's final season as a player at City, & my hope is he'll become a player coach from next season. An outfield version of Scott Carson.

I actually thought yesterday was one of his better games, which to be fair I could count on one hand since he returned. But still, Pep's taken responsibility for not acting more decisively last summer, even when given the opportunity from the higher ups.

We shouldn't be in a position where we have to rely on a 34 year old Gundog, because we're desperately short of player options.
