I take it you are a fully grown man sniff sniffing on the internet. Read all of my other posts you tosspot. The lad had a stinker and was hooked. I'm not offended by anybody saying it. Marmoush on the other hand was great and he has been reported on positively.

TBF, he did not have a horrible debut, he had a horrible debut 10 minutes after which he looked like he wasn't a new player and settled right in. I blame Akanji tbh, he seemed to watch in total silence as the scenario unfolded. As an ex coach myself, rule 101 for defenders (and all players alike) is to communicate. I feel Ankanji should have told him to leave the ball and cleared it himself.

It's a stinker if 3 minutes in you have given a goal away and got booked whilst giving the ball away a few times too. Subbed after 50 odd minutes, It wasn't a good debut lets put it that way, he did grow into it and I have no doubt with time he will be good for us, my blame is on Pep, throwing a 20 year old, with no prem experience, who hasn't played in a month straight into such a fragile team.

TBF, he did not have a horrible debut, he had a horrible debut 10 minutes after which he looked like he wasn't a new player and settled right in. As - probably - an older player and coach, we always used to say that the lad facing the right way should take control and blast it clear if necessary. I blamed Akanji immediately, but, it was an awkward situation for him as well.

Never mind; all's well that ends well. Kushanov's going to be just fine, I believe. That was some 5 minutes for the lad. Good luck to him - he deserves it.

I have a heart, but don't let it cloud what his performance was, crap. It can only get better for him but I don't think he should have played to begin with. That's on Pep for me. I am sure he is sat at home reading this, gutted with me pointing out he had a stinker. I was there and cheered the lad on, he got my support. By pointing it out here that it was a stinker of a start has zero impact on anything. The post I replied to was someone calling it a targeted attack. That's bonkers, is the love Marmoush has received targeted too then? Or did one just play well and the other didn't?

Was it that bad though? I still think Akanji should have dealt with it but it was just one of those things. Akanji probably just thought he had to trust the new lad but it was a joint error, really, borne out of not knowing each other - which only improves by playing together. The yellow card came as a result of the pressure after making the error but actually after that he seemed quite steady and largely untested, so was it really a bad game to play in? He was cautious and kept playing the safe ball back to Ederson, and was perhaps a yard or two too deep at times but later on he started attempting more adventurous passes. I was quite pleased that he showed a lot of mental strength.

Maybe he didn't think it was sarcastic, maybe he knew it was supported showing support for young lad..

It's interesting that it is up to me for a solution on this, rather than the best manager in the game. I'd have gone Rico left back and put Gvardiol at centre back personally. I didn't mind the new lad starting initially but after hearing he hadn't even played a game in a month didn't sit well with me. Rusty, young, new league in a fragile team, we threw him in at the deep end and should have protected him more. Just my opinion, I am confident in believing I am right based on his performance.

I don't want to keep getting into it but yes, if you give a goal away and you are on a yellow card within 3 minutes then I believe you haven't started well. He then gave it away in bad positions shortly afterwards a few times. The awful header has nothing to do with Akanji, it is terrible technique. It was a bad game to test him in as Chelsea could and should have been a few up before we then got a foot in the game. They ran through us with ease and for some reason held back that second half, a combination of us being better and them taking their foot off the gas. He went off early second half and we went onto win. He will get a proper chance and my support every match day, we can't delude ourselves that it wasn't that bad etc. Cost us a goal, booked after 3 mins and hooked after 50 odd minutes.

He had a poor 10 minutes and then started to feel his way without doing not much else wrong in his remaining 45 minutes.

He will no doubt get better, I look forward to his no nonsense defending and hopefully being at the heart of our defence for many years to come. That doesn't mean he didn't balls up big time on Saturday. I'm not obsessed, turds like you have an inability to read what I have put. The very original person I replied to was a paranoid idiot claiming he has been wrongly targeted. He wasn't, his performance was commented on. Just like Marmoush, who has had nothing but praise from blues and in the media because guess what........ he played well and the other lad didn't.

Throwing him straight in wasn't ideal but we had little choice. He didn't have a great start to his debut but as others have said, you could look at Akanji for the goal, whose body shape and positioning was probably better to clear that ball.

And as a robust defender, that certainly won't be his last yellow card. But after that he pulled himself together when he could have fallen apart and did well.
