Really wanted Pep to play him more often at CB which was his natural position. Based on performances this season, especially against Chelsea yesterday, and his ability to get goals playing at LB I think he will rarely play CB going forward.

Agree.

Gvardiol is fantastic going forward, but for whatever reason, is now struggling on defense. Crosses keep coming in and his man beats him too often. If Gvardiol can shore up his defensive lapses, he'll be perfect at LB.

'Unicorn' is the perfect word, I can't think of another footballer currently working who has such a unique profile. There are loads of pacey wingers, target men, tough-tackling DMs and overlapping full-backs. There are no other false left-backs with the physicality of a central defender and on-the-ball skills of a creative mid. I hope he stays in that position, he's too good to play purely defensively.

Gets some stick on here but I’ll cut a full back some slack when he’s our third top scorer.

Tbf, I was one of the few who rated Cancelo and loves Doku and Savinho. Maybe I just like the more quirky players.

In his first season he was superb at defending. It’s the lack of rest affecting him

He's perhaps a bit too risky/careless with his passing at times for that role IMO. Would be interesting to see it tried though.

360 vision is alot harder at this level than people think.

Playing as a fullback requires far less mental strain.

As long as he is used to help us attack thats going to be best for us.

With Marmoush, Gvardiol can be wide as Omar makes runs in the half space.

With Savio, who likes to be wide, Gvardiol has to run through the half space.

He is vital to how we attack down the left.

I know it’s only been 18 months, I think he’ll go down as the greatest left back we’ve ever had in the PL era imo. If we had a functioning midfield he’d be the rated as the best left back in the world right now too.
