Gvardiol was one of the most sought after cb's a couple of years ago when he was at Leipzig with lots of suitors. He has had very few opportunities to play cb at City, but he is more than capable of playing there if required.

I don’t disagree with any of that. It’s a personal preference, I just believe he would make a better LB if the team was built to be direct and less-possession focused.

We have enough midfielders.....except one to sit in front of the back 4. Bruno looks far better further forward, and is certainly a level below Rodri, 'sittng'
I think (and think it's pretty obvious) that we aren't linked with midfielders, simply because 1) there are very few that can fill in for Rodri and 2) none of those few are available ;)
Maybe Cambiasso is the best we can get to cover Rodri.......if we want him to play fullback, he's two footed, so irrelevant if he plays right or left.

I watched Juve’s last game fully and their game with Aston Villa in November. His usage of his right foot was limited barring the simple short passes.

Played primarily as a left back this season, and the times he played as a RW, he was more of an inverted winger.

Had three times more shots with his left foot vs right foot this whole season.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s potentially a great player. But I’m not a fan of shoehorning players in positions they’re not comfortable with just due to their overall versatility or purchase fee.

I wouldn’t call what Pep does with his players shoehorning. He is after all the greatest football coach of all time.

So I reckon we go with what he thinks.
 
I would rather wait 6 months and get Ola Aina for free than spending +60 on Cambiaso


We have Pep most adored player ( Rico ) and couple of the other players who can play there for the rest of the season.
 
I am confused by so many saying that he is going to be our DMF. Where do u come to that conclusion? He barely played there and now he is about to our answer? Another 60M for a player who can play here and there but won’t be an actual upgrade. Every player we get is assumed to be able to play here and there but never at their best positions because we don’t actually go for the players who play that position ( RB, LB and now DM) but for players WHO CAN play there. The meltdown that will happen when Cambiasso plays like shit at that position is going to be insane.

I would also add we should be against signing a guy turning 29 this year UNLESS he is someone world-class. We have enough older players in this team. I am not saying sign 20 year olds, but someone like Cambiaso is in the sweet age spot, and much better suited overall than Aina.

Because this „ he play several positions“ is always a positive aspect until that player plays at that position and gets hate from several members here during matchday. His best position is LB where we have gvardiol already. he is also a good RB but not as good as he can play LB + he barely or let’s say never played as a DMF.. so I am wondering where this conclusion comes from. He won’t change our midfield issues.
