Tbh I wouldn't necessarily make that statement but it's interesting that we have been repeatedly linked with him, so I was trying to see why. For me, Kova's shortfalls are his positioning without the ball, recovery, tackle success and he seemingly takes too many passes to spread it to a winger - one of the many things Rodri was excellent at.

14 weeks until the end of the season and getting in the players we want long term, Luiz is clearly a stop gap (loan) that the club want.
To go and blow 30m plus and big wages on a player that pep does not see as a long term solution would be madness, even more so if we fail tonight and miss out on millions in the later rounds of the CL.
I’d prefer a loan to buying but I prefer having him to not.

True but we are also relying on Gundo and Kova staying fit and both in their 30`s now? Luiz on loan at worst case would help in that area.

Top 5 probably won't be high enough for a CL place playoff and getting even that high demands reinforcements in our midfield right now.Top 5 will be enough and we will. Even then we have to prepare to rebuild and get he best we can, not gum up the squad with another player we don't want.

Top 5 according to Opta has a 95% chance of going to premier league and it’s automatic not a play off place. Think IF we get Cambiaso at right back we’ll comfortably make top 5 even if we don’t get a midfielder. In fact I’d expect top 3.Top 5 probably won't be high enough for a CL place playoff and getting even that high demands reinforcements in our midfield right now.

I have no problem with him on loan, just longer term I don’t think we should be doing anything that impacts on the next rebuild and the next 5/10 years. It is of course an ongoing calculation and dependent on how far the English teams go in the current European competitions.
