North Stand Construction Discussion

I would be surprised if there was a sungle room in the hotel for £100. Most of the time, never mind a match day.
Yes. Me too. I can see it selling out quickly and demand will force prices up. I don’t mind paying extra for the right quality so will give it a try for sure. I’m guessing maybe £200 + on a match day.

Ps thanks for quashing our dreams ;-)

There’s no way that we should’ve gone this long without being able to pop into somewhere at the Etihad on a non-match day for a drink or something to eat. I’m glad the north stand construction will correct this. We even had the bar above the shop when we first moved if anyone remembers it (although it was short lived) I think until the ticket office moved up there.

Remember, they changed it with a subsequent amendment and the 3rd floor is now retail rather than museum, so I imagine it will send tours through a club shop and open up for people to buy merchandise before the game etc.

The tried and tested Disney/Universal model - send those coming off rides through the retail shop ;-)

That's just my own guess, could be wrong of course. Based as much on where hotel pricing seems to be going and what we may well expect generally by the time this one opens.

But who knows, they may have various deals and bolt-on packages available where you get a discount with a ticket or whatever. In theory, as you say, keeping people 'on campus' will have a draw and it may be they'd rather have people pay a bit less and be tempted to use the f&b around the grounds, than geting a cheaper deal elsewhere. All pure conjuncture. Depends on who ends up operating it too, and if there is any link with the other offerings as part of it.

I can see the booking being a nightmare. Block booking a weekend and then cancelling the non match day when dates are confirmed? Any word yet on who is going to run the hotel? I’m assuming it’s not going to be in house. Do you know who actually runs the Coop live operations?

Not seen anything mentioned yet re the operator, and in my mind it can only be one of a small handful, if branded. Without a brand seriously deviating from their own set standards. Maybe they try it unbranded, but I think it is too big and complex for that. Time will tell.

The two platforms for the rooftop walkway. They will sit about two thirds up the quadpod structures with a bridge between them.

That's what I was thinking. Those circular shaped steel frames can't before anything else.(can they?)

Yea that's them, connection nodes on 4 sides to the 4 piers, and the 2 guarded openings at 90degerees to the bridge and steps. The upright 'horns' will be roughly above belly level of a person, for a sense of scale of the piece.

I'd have thought they would have gone up much later, towards the end of the new roof being completed. It will be interesting to see both of the platforms going up and being attached to the 6 tripod legs.

Spacers for the quad pods ?
As previous posts, first landing platforms for the rooftop walk. You enter from the west side of the new stand (outside) and go up to level 4 (I think) to a VIP room and then up to level 5 a separated part of the skybridge overlooking the pitch(?)

I dare guess they have a bit of a bracing role in the quadpod structures, so I would have always expected them to go up at the same time as those. It was just a question of (that HelloCity and myself kept revisiting) of what would go first, roof beams on props, or the piers. Think it looks like that's coming next.
