North Stand Construction Discussion

Question -:

Will any of the new developments, including the CooP, have solar roof panels ?

There's a lot of light facing roof area.

so if I have this right these will sit on the new yellow structures , then the 4 posts on each side be attached creating the new roof support ?
Yes, the yellow structures (both under the rings & the upright towers already in place) seem to be temporary structures to hold the grey rings in the correct position. Once in then the 4 poles on each end of the new stand can be placed and secured and the temporary stuff removed.

Co-op Live already has a full solar panelled roof. It was fitted a couple of months after opening. @cpoverview covered the progress during some of his earlier videos on the North Stand development

There’s no way that we should’ve gone this long without being able to pop into somewhere at the Etihad on a non-match day for a drink or something to eat. I’m glad the north stand construction will correct this. We even had the bar above the shop when we first moved if anyone remembers it (although it was short lived) I think until the ticket office moved up there.
Agreed, the bar/cafe above the shop used to be bang on.

Who owns/uses the athletics stadium and how frequently is it used ?

Don't know about frequency of use but if it's up to date:-

The arena regularly accommodates school and community events and is open for use by the public. A number of local athletics clubs also operate from the venue including Sale Harriers, Belle Vue Racers and Manchester Kestrels.

I'd guess that ultimately, Sport England own it although I think MCC run it.

I'd completely forgotten about that. Went in there after a stadium tour back in 2006/07 iirc. It was decent in there. Will be good to have more going on in the area, although it will still need to develop further to become the "destination" envisaged and help control the flow of people getting to/from the match.

Won’t be long I’d imagine until we see the temporary props for the new roof.

Example from the south stand build:

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they lined up the prop positions, so they attach to the very holes in the new terracing left open where the temporary barriers were fixed to.

Hmmm. If they’re building the support quads first, maybe they could even attach the cables as they go along rather than do them all at the end.
