Club Brugge (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

I despair at time. Part of the reason why I only attend a handful of games a season is because of the inane comments and attitude of fans. We paly in the toughest league and European competitions where most teams are pretty decent.

Obviously we are not the same as we were two years ago, but a 20 match unbeaten run shows that Bruge are no mugs.

First half I thought we we played with patience against a decent team. Until we get fresh legs in midfield and our main defenders back, we will be exposed to counter attacks. No point in continually berating players that are asked to play out of position. The plan to keep it tight, probe and hopefully open them up played to the strengths of who was available.

Maybe Sav could have started. Trying to keep it tight in the first half made sense to me and enabled him to be more impactful. Second half obviously much better.

The club is clearly rebuilding. To keep moaning while that is in progress is pointless.
That's one of the strangest criteria I have seen for going to a game.

We didn't have a shot on target in the 1st half. You might have found that acceptable. The 0-1 scoreline might have been unfair but we played an awful first half, and it's silly to suggest otherwise.

I will agree that we are in a period of rebuilding, it follows that a number of our players are past their best...

Playing out of position might have a bearing on his performances?
It doesn't help, but some of the mistakes are so basic, that it wouldn't matter where he is on the pitch.
His decision-making seems poor and I can't be the only one who tears his hair out every time that Nunes is in a position with real potential and, as if on auto-pilot, he turns and plays it laterally or even backwards.
Whether the lad is doing his best or not (he obviously is) is irrelevant - all that matters is whether he's improving/maintaining/lowering the standard of the team.
Everybody here loves KDB to bits - or they should - but how can anybody really argue with the general feeling on here that he's had his day?

Ffs, boring as hell, sick of playing them
Listen to yourself :) - can you imagine how many reds would give their right arms to be 'bored' with playing Real Madrid in the Champions League, again...

They'll probably be getting ready for their season-defining match against a second-tier team from Cyprus or somewhere that same week :-) :-) :-)...

Tough play off ahead but if Ake, Dias and Bobb are available plus maybe a midfield signing & the new trio we’ll at least have a puncher’s chance.
We can only add 3 players - don't think that Bobb is on the roster yet, so he'd count as one.
I've never seen Reis play, but really encouraged by what I read about him. Don't know whether he can play full-back, though.

Slow start but we seem to be getting our belief back. Still look very porous when teams run at us at speed.
Thank goodness that Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are so slow, then...
Seriously, if we can bed the new lads in quickly, I'll fancy us to give anybody a run - as long as we don't give them a 3-0 first half lead through dodgy setup :-l.

Really looking forward to it - but then I always have been a blind optimist

An intriguing, and tense game, against a really good Brugges team who were superbly organised in the first half, and really dangerous on the break.

Savinho and Kovacic were the pick of the bunch .....

Definitely wouldn't want to play Bruges in the next round, over one game.
But as they will play the 2nd leg away from home, think they will go out next round.
Admire their skill and organisation and played football in the right manner...

Has anybody seen a definitive ruling on whether UEFA consider the play-offs as part of the group stage?
If they don't specifically state as much, we should pop Mouchie and Bobb into the squad right now
Yes.

It is blindingly obvious to all but an idiot that the R-32 playoff matches are not part of the Group Stages.

The matches will continue after the transfer window has closed.

So there is no doubt that any new signings will be able to play against Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Does he really not rate macatee, grealish, etc? Or is he so grateful to the old guard that he simply can’t drop them for his sheer loyalty to them. How can he see the problem? Admit the problem! but continue with it? It’s very strange.
Jack -:

Not fit
Not training
Not trying
Not bothered ????
