Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

3rd keeper is always going to be a kid or a grandad. It's never going to be a worldie at their peak is it? You've basically got to hope for 2 players who rarely get injured to both do so at once just to get a game.

Ortega was shocking today and he's is better than that..
When you look at what City have in available to play it sort of scares me, our defence options and midfield options and the ageing players and goalkeeper.

For an hour I thought we were the better team, and on a luckier afternoon we might have been a couple in front when Haaland deservedly (team, not him) equalised (2 very good saves from Raya, their goal was a little fortunate for me, poor touch from Akanji aside).

Then for 30 minutes we wouldn't have beaten the local primary school, and that should really worry Pep, it was a bloody shambles, not helped by his subs either.
This.

That comment riled them up because they know deep down it's true. They're also-rans. A footnote to an era that us and to a lesser extent Liverpool have dominated. Chelsea have won a major trophy while they were celebrating top four. They've let another season slip when it was their time to be killers. This is their modern golden era and they have an FA cup to show for it. If Haaland never wins a trophy again he'll have more to show for it than any of those players that stay at Arsenal.
I always thought Rodri's comment about them was better, that they lacked mentality when they came to the Etihad and tried to play for a draw.

For me, Pep needs to change the way we play. His possession football is not working and has not for over a year, we won the league last year out of pure stubbornness to not lose. Every other team has evolved the way they play to counter a possession based team. We have not changed at all. If Pep does change it around then he truly deserves the genius tag as it would be, I think, a dramatic change in the way we play
Pep ain't changing, he might tweak to suit, but his style of play is ingrained in every team he's managed.

You can even see it throughout our club, all the teams play that way.

Pep's an innovator and will come up with a way to counter what teams are trying to do, he just needs better players.

At the moment the current crop of players are just not at it this season, for one reason or another, and some will need to leave but i don't see Pep leaving anytime soon.

I can see him staying longer than 2 years now as he's over seeing a major rebuild and i'm confident he'll take us back to the top again.

I can’t blame Pep, because the defenders didn’t turn up, but having spent so much on defenders, last week, why didn’t he bring at least one of them on before the damage was done? Hopefully they will get a run out against Leyton Orient next weekend, and maybe Ake and Dias will be fit again soon, without them we are doomed to mid-table
You can blame Pep for that third goal because it’s the one we concede in almost every single match we play. Every player at least 20 yards inside the opposition half, Kovacic or Gundo or Foden or KDB or Gvardiol being caught in possession and them running straight at our goal with not one challenge being made. 3 passes later and they’re one on one (if not 3 on 1) with our keeper. Every single week and that is all on Pep. If you haven’t got the players to play one way, either get those players in or, play a slightly different way.
We’ve obviously stayed too loyal to too many players and I really do understand that, given what happened last season.
However the evidence has been there for weeks if not months now that this group cannot play with the intensity of previous seasons, so playing in a different way is necessary.

Finally, if people really think that a right back and a DM will somehow make us into what we were, they’re very much mistaken.
Rodri playing in that team, today, would have made very little difference to that second half capitulation and all the other second half capitulations we’ve had this season.

I call that one the Rodri goal.
It's the one we don't concede when we have Rodri.

An absolute disgrace and it's all down to the director of football and the manager and their complacency. The great Liverpool sides under Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish and dare I say it that mob from M16 under Ferguson always got rid of favourites who were past their best, we haven't and this is the result. There is no room for sentimentality in football and you always have to evolve, they for whatever reason took their eye off the wheel and we are where we are.

Worse teams have won it. Psilocybin might cheer you up a bit
I doubt it mate , worse teams don’t concede 20 plus goals against in the past 10 games , we might dick teams like Ipshit , I like your optimism mate , very commendable, we look average , the stats don’t lie , Everton have a better record than us the past four games - let that sink in.

Honestly believe if Foden didn't have a massive fuck up we would have gone on to win , dominated the end of the 1st half and the start of the 2nd , hold on to the draw for 15-20 mins and we would have won, score line is very flattering
We just needed to keep it at 1-1 for 5 to 10 mins until the mentally unstable tarquins got nervous and started to have a go at the weak arsenal players that have a habit of bottling everything

We may well have gone on to win

Well done phil

Presumably they’re a much better side than Real Madrid, Bayern and PSG on that basis too?

And Villa are the eight best, even though they got turned over by Wolves yesterday?

Now that is a silly comment.
Well if we only basing this on one table you might possibly have a bit of a point but they’re also 2nd in the best domestic league on the planet and have a cup semi final next week.

If you’re still genuinely clinging onto this claim of them being utterly mediocre I’ll have to leave you to it.

They never won 4 in a row though.
