Remember tho we got him at a bargain price and the 2 previous seasons he played a key role in our success.
However this year he seems that he has other things on his mind and his decision making is suffering badly.
Remember the dross we have purchased over the recent past at much higher prices in defence.

Has anybody else thought he’s been our worst player the last few. Loads of goals conceded he’s been jogging back for, and could’ve communicated better for Khusanov’s mistake vs Chelsea (he DOES speak english better than his French, which Akanji also speaks). Definitely needs dropping for one of the new 2 in my opinion.

Nope he has never been a strong player

A bargain. Totally. Worth every single penny of the £14m

But hes piss weak. Alongside a much stronger player like dias, great, with rodri in front, great.
Having to be a main man? Piss poor, bitnof a bottler, not that good.

Hes what he is, a £14m player

We would be in the bottom half if Akanji wasn't strong enough to play through injury and pain the last 2 months.

He's been overplayed due to Stones, Ake and Dias being unavailable.

The result is that his form has dipped leading to mistakes and abuse from stupid fans.

Had he refused to play until getting a deserved rest and being fully fit, we'd have been worse off, relying on Pusey and Lewis in defence.

he looked very uncomfortable against Trossard, Havertz. wonder if this gets better or worse when up against Gordo and Isak and Vinicius, Mbappe very soon.

I'm sure he was brought in to be our 5th choice CB. He's a squad player at best and sadly looks like his days here are numbered

How could his days be numbered when he had played more minutes this season than Stones, Ake and Dias combined? The latter three should be more worried for their places.

It would be foolish to think that Khusanov and Reis will be ready to start most games in a team fighting to win the title and the CL. They are for the future and will be patiently prepared by starting mostly in the cups and easier games.

Well if he plays this many minutes for us next season then it'll be another disappointing one

The point is, we wouldn't let a fit player go and keep the injury prone ones. Doesn't make sense.

I know Stones and Ake are crowd favourites, but relying on them staying fit has cost us a lot this season.

When Khusanov and Reis are ready Pep will be very happy to continue his Akanji midfield experiment.

Amazed there’s no comments about him. Mint tonight until the injury.

Back to basics of being a strong defender and no thrills needed elsewhere. Just defend your man and pass the ball. It’s where he excels.

Groin injury, though. Could be out for a while.

That injury’s been coming for a while unfortunately. Leveraged way too much while our other defenders have sorted themselves out but he could only carry the water for so long.

Thought he was pretty good as well and carried on as long as he could.

Felt he was too narrow too often but overall did a really solid job before the injury. Seemed to happen as he blocked a cross right infront of me, immediately looked in discomfort. Be surprised if he's back anytime soon.

and so the cycle begins again. Stones, Dias and ake all just back, which one gets pushed to breaking point first?
