Very difficult to improve a squad with overseas signings in the very short term. The January window for other clubs shows that this is a very difficult window. No one else has done anything significant. And 2 of City's 4 signings are very young players who probably won't play in the Premier League this season.Considering winter transfers are more complicated I'm happy with the incomings. Only position I feel like we needed to cover which we haven't was right back. Other than that time will tell how successful it was based on if we get champions league football next year.
I think we can win the FA Cup and finish in the top 4. Getting our defenders fit will make a big difference. If we can get Stones and Dias fit, then Akanji can play right back, and Marmoush can provide the width on the right. Nunes on the right is very weak.On paper we have. Remains to be seen how they pan out as most are relatively unknown.
We needed a holding midfielder as top priority, we eventually got one. We needed 1 or 2 defenders, we got them, whether they're ready or not we don't know yet. Next on the priority list and one I thought we'd hold out on until the summer was the need to replace Alvarez, we've done that too. We've ticked off the top 3 priorities but added one straight to the top of the list by allowing walker to leave without a replacement.
Season is a complete write off, top 4 is the only target now, that should be enough business to secure it and it gives us 6 months to bed in the new lads so they shouldn't need it next season.
We've given ourselves every possible chance of salvaging top 4 and being ready to go properly next season.
Fucking hell, it really is an expert at saying fuck all in a long-winded way, isn't it?Chat GPT two minutes ago?
Manchester City has made some key moves during the January 2025 transfer window, although their activity has been relatively subdued compared to some of their rivals. While they did bring in new faces, the club tends to be more strategic with their signings, rather than making splashes in every window.
The most notable signing has been Josko Gvardiol, the Croatian center-back, who adds more depth to their defense. This could be seen as a reinforcement in a key area, considering the team's need for stability at the back due to injuries or rotation in the defensive line.
City’s transfer strategy has focused more on adding quality in positions that may require strengthening, rather than overhauling their squad. Some fans may argue that, given their recent successes and ongoing competition in multiple fronts (Premier League, Champions League), they might have needed to make additional moves, particularly in attack or midfield, where rotation or injury concerns could be more prominent.
It’s safe to say that City has done enough to maintain their competitive edge, but whether it’s been enough depends on how they fare in the second half of the season, especially against a challenging set of competitors.
We can win it, in the same sense that anyone still in it can win it but you wouldn't fancy us to beat any decent side in a knockout game right now. We've won just 5 games all season against the top 14 sides in the league.I think we can win the FA Cup and finish in the top 4. Getting our defenders fit will make a big difference. If we can get Stones and Dias fit, then Akanji can play right back, and Marmoush can provide the width on the right. Nunes on the right is very weak.
That and lack of legs/poor defensive nouse in the middle of the park. Also could argue ball retention too.The criticism would be at right back but we had a lot of problems. 2 senior top quality players at a good age plus 2 for the future is the most we could expect. If you ask what type of player would make the most immediate impact this season, I would have said right back. Nunes is not a right back, neither is Rico. We have been unable to play Akanji or Stones there because the central defenders are always injured. This is the biggest weakness at City I think.
