Tonights sunset...

Jupiter?
Venus?
I’m trying to work out what you’d see at your latitude.

Perfect night here. Could see Venus so bright. Jupiter and Mars so clearly from the back garden and Neptune and Mercury are visible too if you know where you’re looking. Much smaller specks though.
Last week I could see Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars just coming over the mountains in the east, all at the same time

We’re further North than you, I think.
Saturn and Neptune are in close proximity in the night sky and were both visible but they go below the horizon early enough as does Venus.
We could see 5 planets aligned at one stage last fortnight, but the regulars visible to the naked eye are Venus, Jupiter then Mars rotating around to my back garden.

I love going out on clear nights like tonight.

Not sure exactly where you are but probably further north than me, I’m at about 44 N, however my house sits at about 1900m asl. No real big towns for a long way around so very little light pollution. I could get out of town and in ten minutes be away from all lights, looks like it’s cleared off quite a bit this afternoon, hopefully get some good viewing here very soon

Nice.
You’re in early tonight.
Clear skies here I might try to get a planetary photo if possible.
Usually unimpressive on my phone though.
They were taken up beside Knock Airport, about 10 minutes' drive from my place. It's up on high ground, so you get pretty good views all around. Before Christmas, it would have been pitch black for 90 minutes by that time. And it's only an ordinary S24 phone I use, no filters or anything. That orange glow is what the camera picks up. Same way that it was able to pick up the aurora borealis last may, which were pretty much invisible to the naked eye.

A bit better.
That’s Aldabaren below Jupiter.

Uranus should be visible to the west of The Moon also but it’s not visible to the naked eye.
Certainly wouldn’t pick it up on my phone.

Driving back to Southport from Leigh… it was blinding!
Would have liked to have been on the sea wall and watched it set… hopefully can do that on Saturday
