Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

If the ref wasn’t absolute dogshit it would’ve ended 3-1 for us with a couple penalties and they’d be down to 10 for that reckless challenge on Marmoush.

Not exactly sure what people expect from a squad full of new players and players who get less than 180 minutes in a month.
Someone who gets it!

Dont expect to clock watch against a L1 side when you are Champions of England regardless of team selection. There was enough quality on our side.

2 players making their City debuts. One on his 2nd ever game after only playing 60 mins for us. Marmoush on his 3rd game. Academy players like McAtee and O'Reilly who have had very little game time. Grealish and Lewis who have rarely had a look in of late. Dias and Stones playing a half each after just coming back from injury.

All that and away against a team in good form playing probably the highest profile game of their careers at home and on TV.

Hardly surprising we weren't fluent but we deservedly won.

We haven’t been playing like the champions of England for a while so not sure how that applies here. That squad was full of new players and players lacking fitness so they’ll take the win and chance to win a trophy this season even though it wasn’t pretty.

It was genuinely a poorly officiated match and plenty will agree on that.

In fairness he said everyone except City fans, which is the norm in the FA Cup for the underdog. Think it was Glen Murray.
Yeah, no big deal. If I wasn't a blue I'd want Orient to beat us. The beauty of the FA cup is when big teams get knocked out by the underdog, and long may it continue. As long as it's not us though. We had our humblings in the 80s at Halifax and Shrewsbury.

We are in the next round and that's all that matters..if we win the cup nobody will remember this game..
We had a Mish mash of a team playing..pretty sure we have a big game on Tuesday so resting players was necessary.
Orient did very well but the referee was fucking appalling.
Its not all that matters though is it. A thoroughly shite performance that doesnt bode well. Players that you would hope to shine against a league one side really didnt. Not only that, they hid

It was crap. Say “the win was all that mattered” all you wish, but the omens are worrying

Blaming the ref. Listen to your self

Performance doesn't matter if we go on to win the cup..better to play below par and win than play great and lose.
It was never going to be a cohesive performance playing players who rarely play such as nico in a position he's not used to.

Its more the “where do we go from here”

Obviously i would rather win, full stop, but its concerning for the rest of the season

Nico O'Reilly & Rico Lewis were the best players today

Vitor was ok

Glad for Grealish, hopefully that assist will lift him up

Why is it concerning? We'll probably never start the same 11 ever again (unless we get a lower level team next round).

I'd be more concerned if we'd played like that with our best 11 playing.

Nailed it.
That 2nd goal was a masterpiece,a work of Art,just shows what Grealish has in his locker,Magical pass with the outside of his right foot, and then.KDB, administered The Coup de grace....
Probably the best goal ever scored at Brisbane Road....
A real full blooded cup tie.

We all want our team to play better and with more speed, fluidity etc but at the moment with injuries and bedding in new players it may take a while so results are what matters until we get back to our usual performance levels..the quicker the better ...
I'm pretty sure if we didn't have Madrid on Tuesday the team Pep picked would have been much stronger and won easily..
Mind you with that fucking ref..it could still have been tricky..
