Ex-City Players You Have Rose-Tinted Glasses For

Tony Towers. I remember him getting some stick off some, but I always thought he played OK for us.

Plus a special mention for Wynn Davies. He and Lee together were special, and dropping him for Marsh in 1972 cost us the title, which still irks me today, if my memory of him being dropped is correct.
Smashing guy ( Growler) him and DJ were good mates. A solid tough midfielder ( just what we need) saying that with his tacking would not last long before he would get sent off!

Dennis Tueart & Rodney Marsh, which tells you my formative era.

They disliked each other fairly intensely. You know that, I imagine.
People think they've always got to choose between the two. I don't. Both swashbuckling players with different styles. Both great to watch in full flow. Both still very fond of City.

Stephen Ireland. He only shone for a short while but he was amazing that one season and probably remains my favourite City player ever (as much as others have been amazing and lovely and great characters too. Ireland just had the perfect combination of grit and flair ... and then it was gone but what a song " I am I am I am Superman...").

Glad to see Michael hughes and Peter Beagrie mentioned.

To which I would add Paolo Wanchope. I remember a cracking goal from the corner of the penalty area (was it v PNE?) into the near top cornrt of the goal - a blast of outrageous daring, brillance and power.
I always thought him capable of doing something out of the ordinary.
Surprised he hasn't had a mention.

His dad said it was like taking a dog to the vets when he drove him to sign for West Brom
Funnily enough, I was talking to a lad who played with Gary at schoolboy level and for city,s A team earlier today
Was at the west brom game when he scored 2.
Nearly got my head kicked in by City fans for singing one Gary Owen...pissed as a fart
