Away fans / tourists in home sections

I was in the front row of 328 last night, the block below (228) was nearly all Madrid fans, not sure if this is corporate or not. It's shite either way.

As long as people are daft enough to pay £150+ for single games the club doesn’t give a fuck and they never will.

Are people seriously saying they've never sat in the home areas of an away ground? Sick of seeing away fans being bullied at the Etihad. In general, the champions league games are way more multi-racial and yesterday included City supporters of Spanish and Middle Eastern origin. This should be celebrated and embraced.
Totally agree.

What shouldn't be embraced is people spending more time filming the game than watching it, blocking people's view at the worst moments to find friends/change seats, blocking the aisles and creating a hazard taking selfies, celebrating openly an opposing team scoring while City fans' nerves are on edge, leaving early and again blocking people's view because you were never that arsed in the first place - wherever those behaviours come from.

Anyone can take a bit of time to find a seat they've not sat in before, get up for food or drinks, greet family or friends or take a picture - it's the combination of ALL the behaviour I've outlined that doesn't show proper respect for surroundings.

I've been to basketball and baseball in the US and while I was there as a tourist, I still had to respect the fact that while for me it's an experience, for the majority it's their team.

That block is always for away fans on CL nights, UEFA dictate they must be offered regardless of whether the away allocation has been sold or not. Absolute bonkers by UEFA.

Would never have happened 20 years ago there would have been a riot, however we have now moved forward where the end game is nearer.

Going to the football is about having an experience, you wont be a particular fan of any football club it'll be like going to the theater or to see a play.

Those legacy barbarian uncultured fans can fuck off, the Etihad will be like one of those compounds only rich foreigners can attend whilst the scruffy locals search through bins and check the score on the big screens littered about the metropolis.

That explains that then. What a ridiculous rule that is!

People take the piss out of Fulham for having a neutral section but it would solve a lot of problems for us.

If the tourists that people complain about were encouraged to sit together in specific blocks that would mean they weren't sat amongst city fans and pissing them off.

OK that section of the ground would be shit but as city fans wouldn't be sat there, it wouldn't really matter.

Would probably make the tourists feel more comfortable too if they were amongst like minded people instead of being sat next to Dave from Openshaw who has had 8 pints before the match.
were just in process of building it

Hypothetical.

Next season in the Europa League, or God forbid, the Europa Conference League.

I don't understasnd, when we all agree, that we are not doing something about this? I won't just give up on 45 years of my life so easily. We got the ESL scrapped - we have a government that is at least pretending to give a fuck about the 'oridnary' fan - we know how pissed off the club were with the season ticket price 1894 (god bless them) demo and banner. Of course I know just a few of us can't stand in the way of a business like CFG - but for fuck's sake, lets at least go down fighting.

I am sad enough to suggest that some of the best and worst days in my life have been at City - that 90min is precious to me. It is my religion, it defines my week, it helps (sometimes!!) my mental health, it delivers life long friendships and relationships. I am not going to just walk away, and accept the commercialsiation of football without trying to challange it's departure from it's history, it's base and it's value to a community.

We URGENTLY need a fully independent, accountable, democratic Supporter Trust. A Trust that has zero access to tickets and favours from the Club, who are exclusivly focused on fan issues. The OSC's will only go so far, as they never want to lose thier lovely little ticket allocation deal and City Matters, despite some great people who have given so much time and effort like @Prestwich_Blue and @Alex - City Matters, is still a Club controlled forum.

We can shout, we can lobby, we can vent and we can argue - and we may very well be ignored and secure no changes to enything - but at least I can live with myself, that I didn't just come mo Bluemoon and have a moan.

That block 228 is for cat A visiting supporters for every champions league game ,it’s part of their allocation,City also get a section of the same seats at grounds we visit, not that any of us normal supporters get to buy them!

Alternatively, the club could attempt to win back the fans they've already lost with these constant price increases whilst maintaining those fans who are on the brink of sacking it off.

There are more then enough City fans to fill those seats taken up by so called "neutrals".

Comp

Completely agree that we have all sat in the "home" end at away games, behaving respectfully.
There's a couple of points I'd like to raise :-

Why were the tourist Real Madrid fans allowed to sit in designated home seats, when they didn't sell out their allocation ?

Why don't City place large, multi lingual signs stating that "away" fans will be instantly rejected from the ground if found in a designated home seat area ?

Two family members went last night and constantly asked Stewards to erect Real Madrid fans near them, but were ignored.

City are a billion-pound business that scrimp on security when they obviously know where some Agency tickets will end-up...
The first thing (of many) i would like to see is the club get shut of the scarf traders, i would hope there is a law that they can use to stop them selling half n half scarves on property that belongs to the club, soon as you walk up the steps from the metrolink they are there pestering everyone shouting 'matchday scarves'.
But......are the club bothered, we all know the answer to that!!

Then the 2 seats on the row in front of me and the ones further down must have been a figment of my imagination. :-)
Someone must have been sick or something then.

I had to sell a seat as my son was ill and I advertised it on a FAcebook page. I had 5 messages within a minute and sold it immediately.
