Exactly this, if only you or I had Peps job
I have a feeling the sub standard purchases have come as a result of the constant media spotlight re 115 - we have not gone for one Marque aside from Haaland on a 'special rate' plus emotional tie... we have meekly tried to keep our head down - fair enough but you end up mid table quickly!!

What do you think guys, will pep rest some of the guys for newcastle, or put new ones in, and the usual agains real, or put new ones agains real? Im intrested to know what do you guys think would be the "best" idea
Nah, we know we will get well beaten at Real if they need to step up..we have an ageing midfield and injury hit squad - no place in modern football for that. All due to Pep not committing early enough - and the game has changed so much since tiki taki success...even then we struggled against pace , power, anyone half decent a lot of times - we just had a monster squad to go the distance - in reality there's a bit of that..and some great tactics as well.. inverted fullbacks etc...when Pep had the bit between his teeth. Divorce can fk a man up

Very tough game but doesn't warrant the level of negativity from some in my opinion. Newcastle won't be expecting to come and roll us over as easily as it sounds from some of the comments.

Hopefully Gonzalez is fit to start, good signs from Stones & Foden last night, alongside Haaland who is scoring regularly again and hasn't had a bagful of chances in his last few games.

Obviously the thing we need to try to plug is in behind the midfield and Stones starts again for me. I'd like to see something like the below (fitness permitting) - worry about Wednesday from 5pm Saturday.

Ederson

Khusanov Dias Ake Gvardiol
Stones Gonzalez

Foden Marmoush Savinho
Haaland

Morale boosting and much needed 3-1 win.

Regarding the game v Newcastle it is a very different game than playing Real. We will cross that bridge when we come to it next Wednesday .
No doubt, Pep will have our big guns up front and the experienced guys Akanji/ Ake and Dias will posssibly be our Centre backs on Saturday with Khusanov to come on if either of those two have a problem although I'd like to see Khusanov at Right Back from the start. If Nico Gonzalez is fit and plays then that is to our benefit. If not he may play John Stones there.

That's the line-up that I'd like to see too. Going to be a difficult game, but glad that Joelinton is out for them as he makes a big difference to their midfield.

Great, Dipper Madley as ref :(
Think they will be too strong for us in midfield, no doubt we will be cut open often but depends if they finish the chances we present them or not as we seem to give up about 15-20 attempts per game now due to no full backs or midfield.

Also need to limit them on set pieces as they have some height in the team and we are as bad defending set pieces as we are taking them.

Hopefully we have our shooting boots on also and not miss sitters if presented.

Agreed - Haaland is on it at the moment

Full send the pace doku , marmoush , haaland up top.put gvardiol next to Dias play ake lb if fit and khusanov right back.
Akin to what @Ric posted above too, and what I said last night, similar to what you’ve said. It’s time to move on, Pep at some point has got to accept the old guard are the past, and we have to start looking to the future.

I’d love to see us throw the full weight of our attacking strength at Newcastle on Saturday, get the pace in there, get Gonzalez sat in that midfield. I want to get excited about watching us again.

MANCHESTER CITY (still) THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

You’re welcome. I won’t waver. :-)
I assume you are not considering this seasons results and that is fine you are entitled to feel like this about this great club once you steer clear of delusion.
With respect to this game on Saturday I am praying they have an off day, get an early red or just basically fuck up. They don't have a great record against us and that is our best hope.In pure footballing terms they should win this and sadly I think they will.
