Got one of the most in form strikers in the league in the opposition and looked very composed, done very well since that early error v chelsea

Had a great game, and made another fantastic shoulder charge to win the ball, which was immediately regarded as a foul by the ref.

It will be so annoying if these refs continue to punish him for winning the ball under these circumstances.

He is very good on the ball. The clip above shows him controlling the ball with his right foot and distributing it with his right too. Several times in the game, I noticed him shifting the ball onto his left to create a better angle, and then distributing it, with quality, with the same foot. Add in his obviously athleticism and desire and he is a real prospect.

Excellent showing. You can see the team is trying to give him encouragement and support, which is great to see.

Why are people so desperate to see him at Right back.

Hes a young lad who’s is a centre back. Let’s not complicate things. He looks a fantastic centre back let’s keep it that way.

I want to see him remain at centre back.
So true , the guy has been presented with a huge learning curve, new culture, country, league and language, let him stick to a position he knows well.

Didn't do Gvardiol any harm to be fair but I think Pep quickly clocked Gvardiol is that good on the ball that it would be a shame not to use him in a position where he can get forward and started using him at left back and it worked out.

Not sure this lad is quite as good on the ball as Gvardiol... very, very few defenders are. He looks a long term CB to me. If he can play RB now and again if needed, especially with his pace, that's a bonus.

Of the 3 new boys obviously Marmoush got the plaudits from the mainstream today for his goals. Well deserved. Nico G was a revelation today for me. We’ve been crying out for a no nonsense, keep it simple, positionally aware DM all season since Rodri’s injury.

But this guy is becoming one of my favourite players to watch and root for at the minute. Obviously not the polished article yet, but even after only a few minutes in a blue shirt you can tell he has all the core attributes to make it in this team. Quick, strong, calm, comfortable on the ball to an extent I genuinely didn’t expect when he signed.

There’ll be future mistakes no doubt, that’s to be expected from a 20 year old centre half, but even after that 10 minute Chelsea horror show I’ve seen enough to know he has something.

Side note, must be a joy to play along side Johnny Stones. I can’t exaggerate how much I love that boy. The perfect partner and mentor for a young lad.

I’ve said this before but he’s rapidly becoming my new favourite city player.

Weirdly that debut cock up between him and Akanji could do him wonders in the long term.

He could’ve easily let his head drop, it was a sink or swim moment and he rose to the occasion.

There’s some real grit and dedication to him. He gives me Zabba vibes.

Because he is fast. That’s the only reason. Don’t understand it either.
