Newcastle United 2024/25

They're a very good team but like most teams in the league - including us this season! - when they have an off day it can lead to a heavy defeat, hence you end up with results like Saturday's or the 4-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth. Same with us and the 4-0 and 5-1 losses to Spurs and Arsenal.

We didn’t turn up, if we did we would have given you a game. We have pretty much given you guys a game every time we have played you with Howe as our manager.

We are years behind you in regards to PSR, so we likely won’t be challenging you for a title or a Champions League in the next 5 years at least, but we should be challenging you on a match day, and we should have done much better on Saturday. Eddie said it himself, it was unacceptable that we just didn’t turn up.
Unfortunately that has happened to us a lot the last year or 2. You never know which performance is going to turn up.

In the cup final, honestly, if we turn up, we could beat Liverpool, but we could just as easily just show up like we did on Saturday and not even lay a glove on them.
Good luck. Chris. Please turn up.

Good luck. Chris. Please turn up.
Believe me, I’m fucking hoping that we do.
I could take losing every game for the rest of the season if we just win that final.

When we played Liverpool in the 1974 cup final, we had won 1 more trophy than them, we went into the game as favourites I believe. We lost a game that we shouldn’t have, and the rest they say is history.
They went on to be the flukiest team ever, and we went on to be poor to average, with a few sprinkles of good, but not quite good enough.

As much as I hate Man Utd, if there is 1 team our fortune should change against in a final, then it’s them.

Honest.

Pity most of your giddy, excitable and deluded fans don't look at your history and face the truth.

Facts don't lie.

Georgies should be down on their knees in supplication to City for the proxy battles we're fighting for your club.

Newcastle United have lost quite a few finals since 1974,indeed one of them was against City a couple of years later.
The saying " Perennial Bridesmaids" is one that immediately springs to mind .

What’s wrong with being giddy and excitable?
If fan’s can’t be that then why even bother.
I would fight the deluded tag, but the likes of Sky and Talk Sport have done an excellent job in interviewing every knacker they find, and well done, you found some Chav with his brains battered because of the drugs he takes and cheap cider he drinks to sing a song on YouTube which conforms to the narrative. I really do have to commend you on that because I didn’t even know of his existence.
Meanwhile a local singer and fan is in line to win his 2nd Brit award for singing songs about the poverty he faced and our region faces.
That doesn’t fit the narrative though.

For the last part. The reason I singed up to this forum is to engage with the FFP/PSR facts by a fanbase who’s been fighting said rules for a decade or so now, alongside the media narrative against their club, you know when they call you a dirty oil club etc. I wanted to see how you guys handle it, and your experiences on it, because when our takeover first became in the media light, it was your fans who were saying this is what you will experience, this is what lies ahead etc.
I said it when I first signed up to this site that’s why I’m here and that’s why a lot of our fans have found a respect for Man City fans.
If you want to just sit there calling me and my fanbase all the same crap everyone else calls us and what they also what they have accused you of and don’t welcome me here then I’ll go if that’s the desire?

For the record, our owners have been working with Man City of various points of your court cases, handing over evidence etc for you.

You know what i didnt really give much time for Newcastle till i worked up there the way the folk are they way they really embrace the team ..........i hope they start to win things .........come on be nice if another club started pushing the red cartel down the league table wouldnt it

Unsure on the hostility from him, other the ironic "where were you when you were shit" chants from yourselves, I think City and the geordies have had a mutual respect along the years. Hope you win the cup

I think that’s a fair point. I mean I’m open in the fact that your success I’m happy for your fans to have. By that I mean the ones who were supporting you when you faced adversity in what is now the Championship, and League One. Meanwhile your friends and family members were off to support Man Utd, or Liverpool, both of whom are on your doorstep.
Those amongst you deserve to see what your club has achieved.
I don’t feel similar for those who have latched on since then though, but if we were to gain success I’d feel a bit disheartened that we would undoubtedly get similar fans who have only been able to feel the joy and not ‘earned’ the happy times.

Don’t leave, Chris.

I enjoy reading your posts and your perspective on things.

Of course and why would you, I remember your fans singing that to us pre takeover though. So it isn't a pop at "new" fans. That being my only gripe with Newcastle shows there is a good relationship.
Success brings in new fans, it brings in fans from further afield. We mocked United about it for years but it would happen to anybody. We still have a large core of older fans who have been through the mill at this club. We also have younger fans like my daughter, who is 14 and has only ever known success. She would have been a blue regardless of how it panned out on the pitch, she is just lucky that during her time we got took over and dominated football. Should Newcastle start winning titles and becoming competitive (something I would happily welcome, a proper club and not a red shirt team) you will then see the same happen of additional fans latching on. It won't take away you have a great support because you have some cling ons.

A great support that all of a sudden changed their tune after their takeover.
They were up there with their oil money nonsense as much as the red cunts.

Maybe, but they have had great support regardless. They haven't been the level of the red cunts, some might have bought into the media narrative driven at our club of course

Ignore GFAB. He’s got abrasive views on pretty much everything and a steel brush for a tongue.

Yeah I mean there has to be an added nuance between those who would have formed a relationship with the club regardless, and those who have no connections to the club and have developed a loose connection.

On our FAB we have an international member who never heard of the club before the takeover and now supports us, when we have fans who travel from around the world to support us and have down for years, including a fan from Oklahoma who’s spending his pension pot to regularly come over, not just for games but for the clubs official supporters trusts annual meeting.
Some fans develop more of a connection than others, and you always have to the interests of those who have a more tangible connections ahead of the others in my opinion.
