Rip-off Britain

How many folks in your house mate? I’ve been wondering about going on a meter.
It really is a no brainer particularly if your in one of the higher rate council tax bands. Without, they wanted £2k+ per year, on a meter its £51 per month, that for 3 sometimes 4 of us. All shower every day, dishwasher on every day, washing machine on 4 times a week, 6 times if its bedding change which is at least every other week and more frequent in summer.

My water bill has gone from £84 per month too £106 per month.
I couldn't get a water meter, wife has the washing machine on 3 times a day, 4 of us in the house, united utilities are now shameless in there billing, it's all about the profit.
I am trying to get the message across to both my wife and daughter that clothes don’t need washing after one wear! Does my head in. If I lived in my own it would be one wash a week, maybe two. With them in the house it’s about 14!

I'm in exactly the same boat, clothes everywhere, the Mrs has an obsession with cleanliness, washes the bedding every four days, I'm not arsed, she just won't change.

I wouldn’t mind the price rise for water if they were going to reïnvest it in the much needed infrastructure increase and improvement.

We are alarmingly at a tipping point on this island where if we have our population grow much more over the next few years, we will not have the capacity to provide water for everyone (which is fucking mental in 2025!).

I think the figure when I read about this was 72 million and we’re already at 68 million.

But is that why water prices have gone up, are they going to make the infrastructure increases and improvements?

3 in our house on a meter, can intel tou the biggest saving we do, don’t flush the bog every time someone has a pee, no need at all, we started doing it at night so not to wake up the little one and just carried it on, saves a fortune, ours has gone from £30 to £35 a month on a meter.

I do two washes a week, I always wear t-shirts or vests (as well as obviously wearing boxers and socks) which means I get a number of wears out of my ‘over’wear/proper clothes before they need washing.

I have some jumpers that I get ten wears out of before I wash them.

Clothes aren’t meant to be washed too often otherwise they shrink or bobble or wear down through getting battered in the wash.

I just wash all the under garments after each wear but wait until Monday and Thursday to do the washes.

Good luck with that at the height of summer mate!

Airport Departure Taxes. Now, they’ve even added charges for a higher class of service than Basic Economy!

Paid $670 (~£520) just for Departure Tax from Heathrow last September. Will try hard not to fly to the U.S. out of England ever again!

You’ll wear the same shirt for several days?

No offence mate but that’s gross.

4 showering everyday?
There’s your problem, have baths and all share the same water…..
