To think the media were right up united's arse back in '74, imagine what the sycophantic hype would be like with today's media if united did get relegated-promoted... the whole "united return to glory" narrative of a "phoenix rising from the flames" etc etc would be off the scale.
absolutely! by whatever bent means, their finances would be fine and they could have a proper reset in the championship, winning games and getting their disillusioned fans back on board, they could build up some real momentum and positivity (see Leeds). The refereeing bias would be another level, and as you say, the media coverage would be unbearable - record this, record that....

Therefore, as fucking hilarious as it would be to see them go down, unless it was guaranteed they would stay down, I would personally prefer to see them festering just above the drop zone year after year with city giving them a couple of good hidings a season, crowds dwindling and sponsorships drying up.

That figure will have changed now that fishfingers has gone and amad and mainwho are injured.
The mainwho who is rated at 80million ,who can be sold to raise purchasing power for more foreign duds
The youth graduate mainyooo way.

Then maybe buy him back in 2027 for £150 million....the Paul pogba way
What a shitshow of a club..
Shudda stuck with Moyes .......lol

Anyone saying that they would prefer the rags to stay up is absolutely insane

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see them really humbled

There would have to be a major fire sale of all their talents that still have a positive book value

Any big earners would also have to be ditched

They would be Leeds Utd from 20 years ago but on steroids

I was trying to convince myself it could happen but they would only have to pick up 3 or 4 points between now and the end of the season to be safe

Even with that , we would need Ipswich to pick up 16 points from 13 games

It would have to be one of those great escape scenarios

It's not insane.
I watched the 74/75 season unfold. Wall to wall rag coverage. If you think sky are bad now, treble it and then add on some more.
Even the fans rampaging around the grounds was almost shown in a good way.

My proposal, should it be accepted by the board, is 3 years of 17th, let them die slowly and THEN relegate the fuckers.

If they actually fell into a relegation battle that the powers that be would allow it to happen ????

Mark my word if this does look like its happening some dodgy decision would go there way.

I mean they stand 15th but this was always coming the only reason they finished was down to lets say generous decisions over the lsst few seasons.

You mean like in 2019/20 when united had 22 penalties awarded in fifty seven competitive games, an incredible rate of a penalty awarded every 2.59 games, or every 233 minutes. Not sure they can do that now with var, at least not so easily.

Wasn't it scudamore who said that the premier league brand needs a successful Manchester United? Wonder if that's still true, maybe the EFL have outbid then for the rights to old trafford next season.

Without blowiñ smoke up the raggy cunts arses they are one of the biggest club in the world which mans plenty of gloryhunting pricks out there to spend money again should the twats become succesfull.

Btw to the older lot does anyone else remember year upon year of panelists going on about how shit Liverpool had become from 1990 onwards ??????

SO why do we have to have an inquest into whats going on at United week after week ????
Can they simply not admit that there time as passed and they are basically fooking shit ???

I mean a couple years down the line but well over fooking 10 ffs

If you could guarantee that they definitely would be relegated in three years then yes, that could see the end of any pretensions that they are a big club and they may never come back

But we all know something will change between now and then that will allow them to spend beyond their means and buy themselves out of trouble

The same effect can be achieved with dodgy decisions going against the other teams at the bottom.

How do you work that out? There's 39 points to play for they're only 12 points above the drop
