I did say on here at the weekend that MOTD were going over the top about his performance and thinking he could single handedly turn around the tie in the bernabeu

He was ok tonight though I thought

Thought he had a poor game. But you can tell he is a La Masia product. He genuinely hates Madrid and it showed.

He was the only one who cared deeply about the game. Pushing, fouling and putting in extra umph in his tackle or pushes after the play was over.

Not fully adjusted to the team but showed glimpses of what he is capable of. The consolation goal would have give his confidence a boost.

Took a look at this thread and I despair at some of the comments.

Because on here despite watching some of the best football that’s ever been seen in the past decade some still have no fucking clue. There’s about 5 posters who are that clueless I’m convinced they intended to sign up to a different sports team forum but accidentally ended up here. This isn’t just this past season where we’ve been so shit and rightfully criticised, it’s been pure nonsense on here every week for years, and has fuck all to do with opinion's

My view on what I’ve seen so far is that he’s slow and doesn’t bring the athleticism which we need in our midfield.

You have a different view. That’s pretty much it.
I recall Rodri's first season there was a similar view so will reserve judgment until he has bedded in.

Last night was always a step too far, especially with Gundogan and Bernardo next to him who no longer offer rhythm/intensity.

Felt sorry for him, got dealt a bad hand with that midfield.

At least he got his first goal.

Looked like he lost his head a bit yesterday, wasn't the calm composed player he was against Newcastle. Was still our best midfielder and good to get his first goal.

Pretty poor but so was everyone and that system...holy shit what a shambles. Rodri would have looked wank in that midfield last night

We don’t only need athleticism though. That’s how you end up with brawn like Nunes and Philips. We need brains and players the can play simple football.
