There is so much data available now that, if, you have money to spend you have little excuse to make inappropriate signings or team selection/tactics. For instance, and these are from multiple sites so may not be totally accurate.“If you don't have a team that is filled with players who are at the elite level physically, you simply cannot compete. It doesn't matter how good you are technically or tactically. Neither of those two things, even the combination, can overcome substandard physicality - this is the trajectory of elite football”
Book I’m reading on coaching and it’s so true. You can’t help but feel we have been very behind the curve
Under Pep we've always been at our best when we're on the front foot and the midfield presses high up.
Usually that has meant one number 6, two 8's pressing high up and two wingers pressing the full backs.
I remember when Lillo came in the first time and we started playing two 6's and we became really passive and went on a horrendous run of form.
Pep came out at the time and said he "didn't recognise the team" and then he changed back to the high press, and I we went on a run of winning 14 games on the bounce or something stupid.
Against Newcastle on Saturday, we were back to high pressing. Front foot, young players pressing high up, loads of energy and pace.
And then for some bizarre unknown reason Pep didn't build on that massive improvement and instead reverted back to being flat and passive with older players in midfield who can't run.
The best manager in the world, doesn't have a year off. He doesn't repeat the same mistakes, he doesn't offer no solutions, he evolves, he adapts, he innovates. Nothing Pep has done at all this season. His answer was to throw a load of money at it in Jan. As already pointed out, managers fade, they decline, they tire, they run out of ideas. I hope that hasn't happened here but there is every chance. His way of playing football has gone, teams are set up physically, direct and with pace which we cannot handle. His ideas need to change with it otherwise it would be downwards like a Mourinho. Time will tell where we are with Pep, his personal life can't have helped him to be the best version of himself either. He could and should be doing a lot better though. No, we’d be worse. Pep is the best manager in the world, so anyone else would struggle with this current side.
Once Rodri is back next season, and after we’ve signed a right back and a world class attacking midfielder to replace KDB then we should be good again.
No he wasn't but he's been poor for quite some time now & shouldn't start (unless we have loads of injuries) but it's only my opinion. He was not the worst player last night
Mate, we haven’t even nearly dominated Europe by any stretch or measure. You’re right, all we can do is learn from it and come back again hopefully next year.Man city has dominated England and Europe for awhile, tough losss happen, but we take it on the chin, regroup, and come back stronger.
1 good game last Saturday and suddenly he's starting the biggest game of the season. That's muddled thinking.Probably the worst pep performance since that 4-0 pasting at goodison. Absolutely woeful.
I cringe every time i see gundo in the line up now which is a shame
2nd division cricket as well! Not even a glimmer of fight. Inexplicable considering the importance of the game. Since we went 2-1 up in the first leg we then lost 5-0....
Onto the cricket season hey !

Fair enough. It makes it even more bizarre that he didn't change it sooner! He said in his post match comments that the plan was to contain them for a while and stay in the tie. That went straight out of the window after they scored after four minutes, the goal one we seem to concede a lot, a simple long ball our defenders deal with abysmally. I've no idea why he went with those tactics when we never set up to defend and are awful trying to do it.
We won’t for obvious club reasons but our lads are going to be fuked again at the start of the season and be playing catch up…..againAbsolutley woeful performance. Club should offer refunds to everyone who went in the stadium, infact add the home leg aswell.
Crazy how leggy the team looked from the weekend.
Hopefully Madrid get knocked out next round. classless c****
Just remember, there are those who say City winning 4 in a row is ruining football or 6 titles in 7.
Yet they are fans of the same clubs who won trebles consistantly before we did. They are also the same oddballs who have an issue over Man City winning trophies, but praise Real Madrid for winning so many UCLs. Embarassing.
It wont surprise me we get Real Madrid in the CWC in June
Isn't being faster visually the same as being faster factually? There is so much data available now that, if, you have money to spend you have little excuse to make inappropriate signings or team selection/tactics. For instance, and these are from multiple sites so may not be totally accurate.
Vinicius Junior top speed is 36.5 km/h
Rodrygo 33.1
Mbappe 38.00 km/h !!!
Khusanovs top speed is 37.00 km/h !!!
Gvardiol 34.78
Reuben Dias 31.5 km/h
John Stones 32.3
Nathan Ake 31.7
Nico 31.5
Gundo 31.35
Rudiger is recorded at 36.7.
Bellingham 33.7
Real Madrid are faster than us all over the pitch both visually and factually.
On a bad night for us this is a stark reminder if one was needed what horrible cunts the rags are. Also stupid. Their worst team and season since 1974, in a Mickey mouse European competition just and still having the audacity to spit bile at us.
Think you need to change your user name mate :)Absolutley woeful performance. Club should offer refunds to everyone who went in the stadium, infact add the home leg aswell.

Whereas, despite being humbled by RM twice in just over a week, you're always so complimentary about them...
