Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Quite simply we are not going to get rid of four centre backs in one window. Without having access to the medical reports and knowing how likely any problems are to be recurrent we don't know which is best. Bobb and Rodri have been absent for longer than any of them. Should they go first?
Rodri and Bob are completeley different.
Keep Stones,Dias,Ake and the rebuild will take even longer. I called it a long time ago with Dias. Overated, shite decision making and injury prone to the same level of Stones and Ake whom I rate highly.
Dias 13 games out and off on or around 46 mins of 3 more. So 16 games out of 25 this season. Simply simply cannot carry that level of injury and expect to challenge

as for Dias, his regression has been frightening. I am a lone voice but I simply do not rate him at all anymore
He's been injured for the last 2 months, so to say "his regression has been frightening" is a bit over dramatic.

When they're all fit, Dias, Stones and Ake are as good as anyone.

But even though it's likely a CH will leave, i'd take my chances with the fitness of all three of them next season and sell Akanji instead.

Dias has been Shite for a long time.
Stop dressing it up

Anyone who sees that list and thinks any of them should be kept then I disagree.
We simply cannot afford to carry injuries like this. Is it lifestyle, is it training? Is it shagging to many love island birds??
Huge huge surgery required I am afraid. Doubt we will see stones again in a city shirt . Top lad love him but when push comes to shove way to injury prone. Absoluteley love Ake but again made of glass and as for Dias, his regression has been frightening. I am a lone voice but I simply do not rate him at all anymore
Not necessarily disagreeing with your wider point, but as our rivals are discovering, if you've got players so obviously injury prone or visibily regressing, then who on earth is going to buy them, especially if (like Kalvin Phillips) they've been given a stupid 6 year contract?
Normally I'd say the rags, but even they've stopped spending

I think there could be quite a few loan deals in summer.

If any of them became available you would absolutely still have takers for them. Might not get big bucks for them but Stones would attract immediate interest to a lesser club. Many would take the risk, hoping for his injuries to die down (they won't)

Gvardiol is the only reliable defender due to his availability. Everybody else could happily leave for me, none are playing great on the rare occasion they are fit enough to play.

Stones might well become less injury prone in a different system. He seems to manage 3 games a week for England so maybe it’s the intensity of playing for Pep that does for him?

Also, how many times has a City defender been replaced at Half Time or earlier?

The odd one is inevitable, but we must have suffered around 5-6
In league games, Stones has been taken off at half-time twice.

The first time was against Spurs. He was completely absent from the squad for the next 3 games and was an unused sub against the Rags. He returned to action when he started against Villa which was the 2nd game he was taken off at HT. He missed the next 5 games after that.

Akanji was taken off at HT against Forest. He missed the next 2 games before returning against Villa.

Lewis was subbed off for Rodri at half-time at home against Brentford back in September but I don't think that was due to an injury - we were 2-0 up, Rodri needed minutes and Lewis was in the squad next game.

Akanji was subbed at 62 mins after starting against Fulham. That also wasn't due to an injury as he started both of Switzerland's matches in the international break that immediately followed, but he did suffer a minor injury at some point during that break which meant he was an unused sub in the first City game afterwards against Wolves.

That's just about the daftest comment I've read in a good while.
I was not suggesting that Rodri or Bobb should go I was pointing out that it was the logical consequence of getting rid of people purely by looking at the injury record over one season.

Yes we almost certainly need to lose some of our centre backs because of their injury record.

We almost certainly do not and should not lose all four. The likelihood is that many of the recurrences have been because they have been bought back too early because of injuries to others. If they get a proper rest and rehab most will probably not be recurrent. We probably need to replace two senior centre backs this summer we probably don't need to start next season with a completely new set of centre backs.

For me the last 2 seasons
Just not what he was for me but I know my opinion is different to most on him
You won’t be surprised to hear I don’t agree he’s been our most reliable defender and organised his team mates, the stats back this up as well His mistake on Wednesday was horrible but, seems must have just been his turn. I don’t think he’s been fit all season

Thats fine mate its my opinion and I wont be changing it. Van Dyke is light years ahead

Wouldn’t say light years. Dias has won the league every year he’s played in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Van Dyke has been and played in a team that should have won more than one title. That fact that Liverpool and the squad they’ve had has one PL title doesn’t get the mention it deserves. Van Dyke and his team have bottled winning the league whilst Dias and his team have cleaned up.

Perhaps you’re too close to Liverpool given your location and it’s having an effect on your vision. Trophies don’t lie and Dias is way out in front despite being years younger.

Perhaps we're all too one-eyed and other teams are suffering similar problems, but I can't recall any previous season where so many players have broken down after returning too soon, or something appears to have been misdiagnosed

From the poor communication regarding Bobb's progress (initially some wishy-washy 3-4 months according to somebody on twitter) or the way that Haaland stayed on the pitch whilst in obvious distress last Saturday, it just feels amateurish

If you think me living in Haydock has tainted my opinion then you are seriously wrong mate.
Van Dyke may only have won title but he is a world class defender and is one of the best in the world. If we had VVD we would have certainly won more than 1 c.league mate

Bobb was supposed to be back early January, is he even training? this was supposed to be a season for him to break into first team bit more often instead of that this season so far is very bad for him. not fit at all. also missing out on improving is something can set him back later on.

hope we can see him join the team on matches soon.
