Club World Cup - Summer 2025

It’s on DAZN because they coughed up the money for broadcast rights.
In other similar tournaments one company buys the rights and then dishes it out to others on a national basis. I think DAZN will lose a fortune trying to get the money back from advertising if it is only available on their platform.

We'll see what happens as it gets closer.

The Saudis have paid the the money on behalf of DAZN. In return they get to host the 2034 World Cup. It’s incredible when you type it out.

That would make more sense. They aren't afraid of losing money to get prestige events. They are no mugs though, and I would expect them to sell the rights were they can claw back most of the outlay.

Next season starts at this tournament for me. Seen a few blues think this will be some sort of preseason tour. Think City will want to be as competitive as possible, the inaugural CWC is quite a big thing even if it doesn’t feel like it now.

Got a hunch we see a Rodri return.

No refund yet, but I did read the return window closes 27 Feb, so I’m guessing they’ll process refunds after that date.
It’s a bit much asking folk to fork out for stupidly priced tickets in the first place then getting us all to buy them again……. Then wait weeks before getting any money back! And all this right after Christmas.

Too much downtime between games for me so I've just booked 5 nights near Penn Station and will catch a train to Philadelphia on the day of the first match..

Will also do the Yankees (and the Mrs wants to see something on Broadway) but otherwise we're flying home on the Friday

Might return if we reach the final stages but only if it feels like a proper competition and City are taking it seriously.

Final July 13th, PL season starts August 16th.

3 weeks off(if we win it) then 2 weeks training with a couple of local friendlies.

Not as bad as I thought, give the lads a week off at the end of the season (fcuk any internationals off) with a weeks training in the US prior to the first game.

Lots of one game a week between now and the end of the season so players can be rotated/rested.

Problem is the 2 world cup qualifiers in early June most national teams have.

Is that any different from the World Cup final or Euros final date and the season starting?

No, but it means the “once every two seasons you get the entire summer off to recuperate” has removed yet another summer! European players involved with have 1 summer off in 4 now, and that is unacceptable.

We are throttling the Golden Geese, while looking for them to lay more golden eggs for UEFA & FIFA!

Also, given both City and Chelsea are heading to the CWC, does that mean they’ll both get exceedingly difficult starts to the season, like at least 1 Away game to Top 6 opposition in the first few games?!

We’ll have to sign some footballers too

I hope Pep plays the kids for the whole tournament.

Is it too sensible to schedule for the first week of the season for City to play Chelsea?

But actually play the fixture a later date in the season giving both teams an extra week to prepare for the season.

Yup - the PL have refused to allow any delay to the start of ours or Chelsea's season

Didnt realise they were WC qualifiers, no way players will want to miss.
A combination of nations league finalists,, World Cup qualifiers and friendlies for the rest.

England is a friendly versus Senegal held at Forest in June. Wales at home in October.
