Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We could see once again in this match that the midfield is a huge problem, and until we fix it, this will keep happening. The summer transfer window is crucial - if we don't address this properly, we might as well give up.

We built our game plan around the idea that Savinho and Doku would drive the ball at the opposition defenders, hoping that something would come out of it. But so far, nothing has, because their end product just isn’t good enough yet.

Won every metric except the one that counts.

Never threatened unless a winger was running at them, which feels like was a good tactic, but no end product.

They collapse on defence and smother you in and around the box, restricting clear chances.

With little to no outside threat, they never had to step out, but when they did, they took all the air out of us.

Was never going to be easy, but getting a goal and giving us something to cheer about in the second half would have been nice and set the end of the game up as a knock down, drag out.

When you look at who came off their bench vs ours, you see one of the problems at the moment.

The team basically played with virtual Haaland up top, because that is the only way this team knows how to play, or how they've been conditioned for the past three years. Evens with him we carry less and less threat against any form of organized defence.
Pep you fucked it and there may be no way back for you, unless you are prepared to stay another 5 years minimum. Good luck to us if we are waiting for rebuild to be done on shoulders of Doku, Savinho and Marmoush.
correct, whats remaining of Peps contract is not long enough for the rebuild, we will test the water next season with our current new signings and the new summer signings but there are no guarantees its going to work, i hope im wrong but i feel Pep is wishing he had gone instead of signing that extension, i dont think he has the fight for the rebuild, it is what it is and he will go down as a legend here, maybe for both club and Pep its now become time to move on

Doku was outstanding. I've been a critic of his, but he must have skinned that over rated fraud 15+ times.
Yes he didn't find anyone in the middle but it was usually Foden up against two giant centre halfs. We were never scoring today. Had Haaland been there today I think he would have bagged at least one.

Khusanov was a big positive. Hopefully has a great future.

De Bruyne totally finished. So sad to see him play like that, he was like a man down throughout.

Weak, a real lack of actual physical strength in this side. Plus nobody seemingly able to play a ball through/over for the runners, which happened a lot today. KDB is done, all good things come to an end.

Good signs: Khusanov, Gvardiol, Doku, Savinho, Marmoush - all will be that much more settled next season.

They outplayed us from minute 1. Metrics. Honestly.

Don’t think I can ever recall a winger skinning a fullback so often and producing absolutely nothing.
Theo Walcott
Aaron Lennon
Adama Traore

Doku reminds me of these type of players.

I remember someone at Maine Road saying "If we opened the main gate he'd run out of it with the ball". He was talking about Darren Huckerby.

We need to get this shit sorted or for the next few seasons Arse or the Dippers will win the title… and no one wants that.

Our record against big sides for two years running now is atrocious. Poor selections, no fucking subs ever until it's too late... Just shite to watch.

It's OK we can have a bad season ? Pep sending out the message to the players halfway through the season.
Look I know we have had injuries and Rodri out, But waving the the white flag and letting the player go unpunished is criminal,

Liverpool did not need to get out of first gear and just sat back and waited for the ball to be given to them
It was Shocking today and it really was bad and to watch Liverpool taking the piss is wrong on all levels.

It is so painful watching City become a joke, This can not be right ? even if players are leaving, letting them down tools and coast games because there is nobody else is a joke, Play some EDS lads, play some youth players But please don't play players that don't want to play.

Far too easy for the Dippers who were in cruise control for most of the game. No shame in losing to the best side in the League, but despite the usual possession we created very little and without Haaland we were toothless. Sad to see this this team struggling, but this game has told us nothing we didn't already know. A big rebuild is required and hopefully in the Summer quality players can be brought in to ensure we can challenge for honours next season and beyond.

Absolute shite from De Bruyne and Foden today.

Rinse and repeat.
De Bruyne is a blue legend but he’s now so far off it it’s embarrasing, he was shocking beyond belief today & it’s a regular occurrence, foden just seems a soft arse who can’t be bothered when it’s a bit of a battle
