Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

They are streets ahead of us at the moment, but this is a culmination of them building themselves up after the last 4 years. Didn't they finish 4th after winning the title last time? They then started to rebuild their brilliant 2017-2020 side, in both atttack and midfield and now they are going to win the league again. Think some of our fans have to realize that's where we are now. The rebuilding stage, Khusanov looks a good start of it. We might not win the league for a couple of season maybe longer, but we are where we are.

Maybe a sign of how bad we've been, but I thought this was one of our better performances.

There were some frustrations and obviously some big changes ahead but there were some decent signs.
It was, its been a while since we controlled the ball or pressed a bit. A lot stemmed from Pool respecting us a bit too much tbf but we looked better than Madrid (away).

No. No stop it. I'm going to keep replying to every fucking person who thinks for one second we weren't just manhandled completely. They toyed with us.

I will be glad to see the back of this season.

You can’t win the league every year, we will come back stronger next season.
I wish I had your confidence.

We need a replacement for KDB which will be hard enough, if we don’t get champions league football it will be even more difficult as we won’t be able to attract the best players.

It wasn't. You are wrong. That was a bad performance that looked bad and was bad.

Watch ali v foreman. Imagine we are foreman.
And that's what you've just seen. Out thought, out fought.

It's all about opinions and in my opinion we weren't too bad.

You obviously think different and I'm happy for you to have your own opinion.

Thought it was a decent enough performance overall, midfield is still - hopefully - a work in progress. Khusanov looks good value, Doku was excellent and Savinho second half. Why no near post runs from our midfielders, to give the wide players another option.
No. It wasn't a decent performance. It was awful. We were completely outplayed . What the fuck is up with everyone? Did anyone watch the game?

Won every metric except the one that counts.

Never threatened unless a winger was running at them, which feels like was a good tactic, but no end product.

They collapse on defence and smother you in and around the box, restricting clear chances.

With little to no outside threat, they never had to step out, but when they did, they took all the air out of us.

Was never going to be easy, but getting a goal and giving us something to cheer about in the second half would have been nice and set the end of the game up as a knock down, drag out.

When you look at who came off their bench vs ours, you see one of the problems at the moment.

Saved me typing.

I feel really confident going forward and khusanov will be a World beater.
Foden needs to find his perfect role.
I hope he plays next to Rodri and Nico next season

We will win it next season.

correct, whats remaining of Peps contract is not long enough for the rebuild, we will test the water next season with our current new signings and the new summer signings but there are no guarantees its going to work, i hope im wrong but i feel Pep is wishing he had gone instead of signing that extension, i dont think he has the fight for the rebuild, it is what it is and he will go down as a legend here, maybe for both club and Pep its now become time to move on
Extremely knee jerk that mate ! He will oversee the rebuild , no way would he have just said “I’ve done my bit , now I’m off , Txiki is leaving so fuck it”
He knew , more than anyone that this side needs a full rebuild.
And I’ll wager that Pep is as fucking hungry to do it all over again.
New side , we are already stealing a march over every other PL club , maybe Liverpool aside.
Arsenal are shot now , Chelsea are a basket case , United , well , they aren’t even in the conversation.
The likes of Newcastle , Forest , Bournemouth et all just won’t ever compete, this season is an anomaly.
We WILL go again , and that’s a fact.

No fight? We had a good go but couldn't score as they just parked the bus, given the season we have had and the team we had out today I didn't think we played that badly
We had some ugly wins on the way to 4 Leagues but can't recall us settling for a bus parking for a whole half like Liverpool.

And nowt came of Doku having "trent" on toast but I still enjoyed that.

Your opinion is a bad opinion. You're like a flat earther. It's an opinion. But it's fucking nonsensical.

… we were actually in the game and controlled it well.

Eh? They were happy to put two men on Doku, pack the defence, allow us aimless possession and score a couple on the break. Our transitions were glacial and we never came close to scoring. It was an easy win for 5hem.

How can anyone call that “controlling” the game?

Missing games after a major cardiac event and have to say this team are not helping!!

If we are all honest we have enjoyed a decade of amazing things - there will not be another team that gets close to the levels we enjoyed. But here's the thing you always have to progress and for me Pep has been so loyal to those who gave us so much joy - too much in my opinion. We stick to the same patterns and when it doesn't work we moan about aging players.

In the bigger games we still have 65+ possession and yet continue to play at a ridiculous slow pace - Pep always was able to reinvent how his teams play but I don't buy this new mantra of we are not up to it physically. The better teams seem fitter and play to a set system that allows their best players to flourish. Phil for example has become selfish in his play - today some of Liverpool players are into their thirties but they still work, track back and keep shape. Phil today lost the ball and just watched as Mcallister waltzed past him. Lewis supposedly super fit wanders into positions he shouldn't be then looks like an old man trying to recover - Nico should have been the one to set up play but when Rico plays a pass to him he's like a 12 year old running after his pass instead of into spaces which draws defenders away - he also is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen - mind you Trent on their right side can't defend too but he has a range of passes that fits into their system.

There has to be even bigger changes in the summer for me.

Kev- God bless doesn't seem to have his heart here anymore and he will tear it up in the MLS.

Kovacic, Bernardo, Nunes, Ake, Stones, Walker (already not coming back), Eddie, Gundo and for me Lewis should all be nowhere near our squad next season. That is a huge change for Hugo to deal with, 9-10 players leaving at a club like ours shows a poor lack of planning.

We have to look at Reis and Khusanov in preparation for next year, maybe try Gvardiol in the position that had every top side wanting him and finally get a right back that can defend and overlap instead of getting caught in crazy positions. In other words trust the youth - become exciting to watch and don't look back and reward players for the past. Phil needs a strong word to revitalise his talent - the best players work as well as having that ability - he's walking at times this year and looks nowhere good enough to play the role he desired from Kev.

Thank you City for the most incredible few years but if we are not careful we could really fall back - and that is not an exaggeration after what I've seen in many games this year - losing 3-0 leads is one thing but not constantly creating that much is another. We are quite a dull side now and adding Rodri will not fix that.

Positive was Doku at times and Khusanov was trying to be a one man defence as the other three let him down - I like his attitude and for a kid with not a lot of games he will only get better and better.
