Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think you need some punctuation. I don't think too many played particularly well. You're entitled to your opinion though pal.
That doesn’t mean they let the fans down… I think given who was on the pitch etc they did well and put in a shift Liverpool were clinical we were not but we are missing key players against a full strength Liverpool but like you said opinions

No. No stop it. I'm going to keep replying to every fucking person who thinks for one second we weren't just manhandled completely. They toyed with us.
I don't think we were mandhandled completely. So you do you and lets let this go. We were mandhandled by Arse after 60 mins, Madrid on Wednesday, Spurs as well. This wasn't the same.

Trying to remain optimistic about the future, but...

When Michael Thomas scored that goal, Liverpool were a team who - that morning, with one game left - were still hot favourites for the title.

They didn't win it again for 20 years.

When Ferguson retired, United were champions - who here honestly thought that they'd still be title-less and total crap after all this time?

I really wish that we could forego the CWC - how this sunmer goes could have really long-standing consequences.

Perhaps we need to exploit the rest of this season for all it's worth, development-wise, even if we don't qualify for next year's UCL? Might pay off long-term?

I’m amazed some blues though we did ok! Wtf

That was the saddest performance in years for city.

Liverpool let us have the ball because they knew we had nothing. It was easy for them.

We had nothing. Doku & savi running past a player is all we had.

I wish I had your confidence.

We need a replacement for KDB which will be hard enough, if we don’t get champions league football it will be even more difficult as we won’t be able to attract the best players.

I think we will scrape top 4 anyway, but I don't really see why lack of champs league football would stop us from attracting top players. It didnt stop us in the past and it hasn't stopped our rivals either.

It was. It was just made to look different. They simply let us have the ball on the wings or 20 yards out. And we were at home. It was lacking in guile and skill, passion and precision.

No. It wasn't a decent performance. It was awful. We were completely outplayed . What the fuck is up with everyone? Did anyone watch the game?
Maybe you dint? Maybe your expectation of where we are is different from some of us? I will take this outplayed compared to the shit we have been served over the past few months.

So tempting to go all in on us for that display, but I'm resisting.

We have arguably our three or four biggest players out, and if anything today just highlighted exactly what we need to do in the summer.

Lewis just didn't have the physicality to play right back for us, especially in this league. He has other abilities, can see him in midfield, but not at the back. I've wanted a new contract for Kev all season but now I see that's not where we need to be going. We need a creator, we need a more assured right back, maybe two, and we need some mobility in the midfield.

There is not actually that much wrong with us, we're just comparing to what we have known and are used to, which is champions year after year. The fight for champions league is going to be tough though. This is usually when we put our runs together but we're still struggling for fitness in key areas.

Right back and midfield need sorting. Maybe two full backs even.

Personally I would like us to have had Muamba on the bench today. He's physically imposing and another option z which would enable Marmoush to play off someone.

Haaland, Rodri, Stones, Akanji, Bobb (to a lesser extent) all out injured. That’s the best striker and best midfielder/player in the world, 2 treble and serial winners and our brightest rising star all missing injured. Add that to inexplicably leaving Dias out, and how do you think we can beat a near unbeaten league leader. We played about as good as we could. Foden and Rico are car crashes atm but are used too far better players around them. I think many people are expecting far too much. Great news is we have played Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool (plus Real twice) and have gone from 6th to 4th in that period. I’d have taken that four weeks ago.
We probably won’t ever get back to the staggeringly high levels that we have had over the last few years- it’s practically impossible to do so. But we’ll get back to challenging for every trophy within a year or so. Just got to accept it and support the team. I know every ‘true’ blue will do. Not so sure of many on here though.

The frustrating thing is I think Liverpool are bang average. They didn’t play well, we just didn’t fucking remotely get into the game.

It really pisses me off.

That’s the worst Liverpool team we’ve played in 10 years and we made it piss easy for them.
They are far from bang average, they are just not as Gung ho as they were under Klopp.

Fair enough. The delight in a 2-0 home defeat where we failed to lay a glove on the opponent. Count me out.

Can somebody explain why Pep brought Dias on at 78mins?
Baffled, Pep is is staring to mess up his legendary status

Even if he did do it and ake didn’t take a knock to say that messes up the last 8 years is a outrageous take… don’t think anyone will look back at that sub and say he ruined 4 in a row

Anyone. Nothing will change whilst he's there. It's gone, finished, it's not coming back and even the players don't believe in it anymore.
Can’t believe that you can possibly come out with all this crap. Did you really think that City would win 5 in a row, then 6 in a row. When you have watched City for as long as I have, you become a realist. These things don’t last forever and every single team will go through a period like this. I agree that today wasn’t a fantastic performance, but I our circumstances it could have been worse. Pep has done so much for this club and believe me, he will be a hard act to follow. You don’t seem to be able to offer the name for a replacement manager, so don’t be upset if we bring in Sean Dyche.

Gvardiol, Khusanov and Gonzalez did pretty well.

Doku entertained by rinsing TAA repeatedly, but didn’t create anything from those opportunities.

I’m assuming that we’re playing a Foden lookalike this season.

KDB. Thanks for everything, but it’s time sadly.
