You can say the same thing for the 100M pound defender opposite him, or any defender this season.
We don't have any £100m defenders. Gvardiol cost 77 or so, and is about 77 times better than Rico. He is probably our player of the season all things considered, despite some subpar performances every now and again.

Pep can play Rico all he wants, but just accept we won't be challenging for anything other than mediocrity with him in the side. He is not the only problem, but if he plays more minutes than 90% of our squad, that's very concerning. He is the sort of player you put on at 3-0 to hold the ball and pass ot sideways/backwards. That's all.

You’ve obviously forgotten how comfortable he looked when playing the inverted role next to Rodri then. Judging a young player this season with our midfield is just daft.

They have worked for 9 years, but yes lets chuck the idea out because the rest of the midfield isn’t working. Thank fuck Pep understands the baby stays when the bath water goes.
No they haven't, it hasn't worked for 3 years now, when we won the treble we had no inverted fullbacks.

Rico literally showed Cancelo how to play the role.

Cancelo then had a hissy fit and left.
Lol we were never winning anything if Rico was a regular, we won the treble with 4 centre backs and Stones moving to midfield in possession, Walker started at RB in both legs against Madrid to counter Vinicius, Rico wasn't there at the business end.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

If he was playing in a rag shirt, we'd be HOWLING WITH LAUGHTER.

I want him to do well, but it's mistake, after mistake, after mistake.

Pep's too loyal to him. He's not a kid anymore.
I’ve been saying it. It’s just a major of cope that people here claim him to be special. We need 2 RB not just 1 in my eyes. He can’t even pass forward.

We are a different animal with Rodri in the side. With Rodri, I am 100% certain we would be in the title race despite several players not playing well. Rodri masks the weaknesses of others around him. That's why he is the best player in the world.

Did we not, ? Think we did, until towards the end when we used Stones as a centre back stepping into midfield instead.

The 20/21 season Cancelo was widely regarded as one of the best full backs in the world for his inverted full back performances.

I know it’s become fashionable in recent years to ignore everything that Cancelo did at City but our success in that particular season owed a lot to Cancelo. He was performing at a level that Rico can only dream of. In fact, if Cancelo hadn’t performed so well in that role, the inverted full back would arguably have ended up in the bin and Rico might still be looking for his City debut.
