Absolutely shite comments. Our final ball was lacking and that was the big difference. We controlled the majority of the game, but once again poor defending cost us. Even in our peak we have given up more chances than we did today against them.

Khusanov and Nico a big factor in thwarting those counter attacks.

This is silly. Liverpool played as well as they could. They couldn't win at Everton and Villa for a reason and were panicking that they might finish this season like last season...

Fortunately for them, we had several players who were very poor. On current form, Foden and KDB are not good enough to start for Leicester. A lot of people are blinded by their names and can't see what they are doing on the pitch. Playing with them is like playing with a man down from the start. That Pep started KDB against both Real and Liverpool is a mistake, even though Bernardo and Gundo aren't their usual selves either. Still, for all his weaknesses, Gundo was much better vs. Newcastle than KDB vs. Liverpool. KDB isn't a midfielder these days, and offers too little in attack.

100% - comments like they never got of 2nd gear, or they toyed with us are absolute bollocks. Simple difference is they are clinical up front and capitalised on our suspect defending. Haaland plays and we win that. Liverpool will win the league by default, but they will be the shittest team to do so for a while.

Also, their fans are wank, Up there with the worst to visit the etihad this season.

They did what they had to do, no more no less, there are many ways to win a game and that was a very comfortable win for them.

Speaking of comfortable, that's exactly what type of afternoon their GK had. Regardless of the stats some love to wheel out, it tells me everything about the game.

Some of the comments on here are absolutely mind boggling:- "Liverpool are just better than us", "they were playing within themselves". What a fucking crock of shite. I wouldn't go to watch Liverpool if they sat me in their most expensive hospitality seats for free. They are praised to high heaven for literally booting the ball up the pitch for salah to chase every game. Just look at their last few games, they must be getting very close to breaking the bank of good look over the last 5 games.
City completely dominated the game 66% possession, 16 shots to 8, shots on target 5 to 4. Please show me where looking at those stats were Liv the better team and playing within themselves. I personally thought Liv were shite and have been for the past month. Just because a team beats their opponent doesn't always mean they were the better team(except if you listen to Sky & match of the day studio responses). I was expecting a defeat today myself, simply because of the amount of missing players and players not fit but playing. Our performance didn't deserve a defeat. Liv have been very lucky in the injury department this season which has ballooned them into looking like world beaters, they're not !
A lot on this forum are brainwashed by the media and need the media to form an opinion. I know what I watched today and have completely blocked myself from all the media, knowing the bullshit that would be spouted.

Even in the treble season the games we lost or dropped points I would wager we had the most possession in all of them. Our football isn't effective this season. It's pedestrian like and allows teams to get back in shape then blow us away on the counter with pace as our ageing players can't keep up.

And most of our shots were blasted into the defender or were literally a back pass to Allison.

Stats can be misleading on the eye.

But what I saw yesterday was a team that had no ideas and a team that was well drilled and played in second gear.

Enjoyed our first-half display from our wide men, little wrong with our approach play, but just nothing in the box.

For me, Foden is playing for his entire City future as a regular starter, factoring in the Gonzalez signing and the need to buy a Kev replacement.

Once Rodri is back, someone will then move down the order and Foden is showing nothing to suggest he is ready to take the final step.

We had a lot of younger players out there and Foden is now an experienced, serial trophy winner, showing little in any respects.

Khusanov continues to impress. Doku and Savinho are excellent buys, but they now need support of real quality around them.

I do think if Rodri and Nico play together, the entire team will be elevated in terms of retaining possession and it will elevate the rest.

Need a right back, creative midfielder, striker and goalkeeper. Good to go.

Apart from the offside attempt by Marmoush in the first half and the shot he had after their goal was ruled out, I can’t think of any clear cut chances we created. Liverpool sat in a good shape which nullified anything City could do. Haaland missing made us look very lightweight up top and Liverpool knew they could sit and then pick the 2nd balls up and break when required. We started the game alright but when the goals went in the panic set in and out players started to hide from wanting the ball.

Two passive performances against two teams in Madrid and Liverpool whom City have caused a lot of psychological damage to over recent years. How do we get that back?

Sly and the media massively overrated the dippers performance yesterday.

They were 2nd best but had an end product called Mo fucking Salah. The Champions elect and best in the world managed 34% possession, defended with 11 men and played counter attacking football, gash.

We obviously handed them goals as usual but honestly watching it again we weren't that bad, missed big Earl.

The future is bright. Khusanov absolutely brilliant, Doku if he can find a man with his passing will be awesome. Savinho did ok.
