Away fans / tourists in home sections

I don't get how they're doing this yet letting people wearing Liverpool hats walk right through the home end turnstiles.

Reselling is granted slightly more difficult to deal with...but you could catch a lot of it just by visiting the five or six largest reselling sites and making notes of which seats are being re-sold.

I get that some people who buy tickets on reselling sites are actually City fans but if THIS many are going to tourists or away fans you'd think the club would start tracking it

Can’t the club void any tickets sold through these websites?

Looks like Tottenham are taking it seriously. Do they not have links with ticket agencies, or do they explain responsibilities, such as ground regulations to these agencies before they allow them to sell tickets?
A mate was in the home section for our away game there towards the end of last season and stayed safe by not celebrating our goals. He was sat above the away section and sent a great "limbs" video of our fans celebrating.
All the London grounds have huge numbers of tourists and this trend has been happening over the last 10 years. All sorts of random people rock up for PL games in London. You can't blame clubs for taking the money but perhaps this will result in neutral sections being created (like the one they had at Fulham). I don't know what the answer is. We really need bigger stadia to satisfy demand with an increased allocation for away fans. It is a problem that won't go away. Certainly the youtubers are a bloody nuisance when you just want to watch the match.

I sit in 106 and in front of me down to the right, so at the front of 105, it kicked off after the Dippers first goal. The City fans complained to a steward about a group of Dipper fans celebrating. It looked that the initial response of the steward was to tell the City fans to shut up. After a couple of minutes a young guy in a yellow hi-vis jacket, obviously a supervisor, turned up and the Scousers were escorted out.

The East Stand was awash with day trippers wearing half and scarves yesterday. It baffles me how they get hold of tickets but given the amount they spend on food, drink and merchandise clearly money is not a concern.

Speaking to a mate who works as security and was there yesterday.

Probably already mentioned but the club did apparently make efforts to decline tickets being bought with Liverpool post codes. Seems to be an issue whereby season ticket holders are reselling their tickets for double or triple the price.

Not sure if this is actually what’s happening.
Not many matchgoing Liverpool fans have Liverpool postcodes to be fair. The Liverpool locals have been priced out or follow Everton..

I've heard their fans complain about the same stuff going on at Anfield, and I'm sure that place is an absolute magnet for tourists
Anfield is a total shocker these days. The locals pack the pubs to watch the match on TV and the stadium is full of tourists. Old Trafford is just the same. But the worst place of all is Barcelona where half the crowd seem to be tourists. I haven't got a problem with tourists but don't like the home fans being priced out. Perhaps we just need bigger stadia and neutral sections.

The club distribute them to and through these websites themselves. A lot of these sites have ‘sister’ sites as well. Any old information could be on these websites, or lack of information if we’re thinking of stipulating that visitors should not wear any colours of any other teams other than City.

I think they think they’re untouchable and can go anywhere they want and we just have to accept it. If anything happens to them, they’ll be the victims as usual and it’s home fans that will get all the blame.

I know what checks I've done before selling a ticket including requesting pics of buyers in City gear and them having a Citizens number / history. Compare that with City requesting sometimes 1 previous game history or no games in corporate / hospitality. City get several free hours work off me every week trying to expand the fanbase. Maybe they could listen to my views in return.

I am not in the anti-tourist lobby although we need to keep the essence of what makes us a great Manchester Club. In fact I am nervous about the rhetoric on this forum in recent months. I've no big interest in politics but I recall warning that the Brexit thread on here was getting out of hand but it was only mirroring what a lot of people thought in the Country. By coincidence the following week Jo Cox was murdered and my views were no longer alarmist. Someone is going to get very seriously hurt in the Etihad if City continue to favour bloggers over local fans and the mood amongst our fanbase reflects the current political direction in the Country.

FWIW, It was good for the 1894 video recently released to be balanced about the breadth of our fanbase.

In some ways, it was a shame that the marketing plan in the early days of the Sheikh's takeover, including 1880 and Anna Connell was superseded because there seemed a commitment to City's heritage (albeit that included some mythology).

Yes I agree with you on ticket prices and taking a longer term view. Likewise I have not heard a good argument against City recreating the Junior Blues.

Soriano and Danny Wilson are doing the job they are expected to. It's alienating the core fanbase though. People who lobbied our Execs to have unlimited use of the Ticket Exchange have also endorsed excessive ticket pricing.

Looking at that account though, it's clear tickets are being sold to "blues" who then in turn are moving them on.

I agree with your general sentiment on those accounts though, anything to stop the club marking up "exchanged" tickets is a good thing in my book

If you price out your core fanbase, the vacated seats will be filled with tourists/neutrals/opposition fans.

If City sort the ticketing policies out, this problem will disappear.
Aye.

For me, in the previous two seasons to this one…
2022-23 Group Stage prices: Dortmund £25, Copenhagen £22, Sevilla £22 = £69
2023-24 Group Stage prices: Belgrade £27, Young Boys £27, Leipzig £27 = £81 (quite a big jump in itself)

2024-25 League Phase and KO Round prices: Inter £52.50, Praha £30, Feyenoord £30, Brugge £30, Madrid £52.50 = £195

From £69 to £195 in two years. A 134% increase on what we were required to pay just two years ago.
Even per game that’s £23/game in 2022-23 to £39/game two years later. A 69.6% increase per game.

Where’s the justification in such a jump in price rises? The Inter and Madrid prices were quarter-final and semi-final prices from the previous two seasons, yet they were in the League Phase and the Gutter Round. The equivalents of playing Watford in the early round of the EFL Cup in September or Salford in the early rounds of the FA Cup in January. When they have extra games to earn from compared to previous years , they could have charged £15/game (£75 total) and earnt more than they did from the Group Stage in 2022-23 and filled the ground with City fans.

I paid it, but thousands wouldn’t have bothered. Especially, when City don’t inform any of us how much games are going to be. They don’t inform us when we commit to the Cup Scheme in the Summer, they don’t tell us at the start of the season, they don’t tell us upon commencement of the CL, we are only informed a week or two before they take the money out for each game (or in the case for the Feyenoord game, the fucking day before they were going to take the money out!).

The disdain they hold us in is staggering!

Must’ve filmed secretly otherwise he might have got some digs like the poor sod in the video.

We used to be able to buy the Champs league home group games as a bundle, when did that stop?

Just be glad that some or a few of us knew the game befote it became this money churning machine ........ how many pages on this topic now surly somebody at City should be taking note or worried what this could become .........we all know foitball moves in cycles so would you rather have a die hard blue who regardless of what happens on the pitch will stay turn up or a tourist who will magically fook off when it goes wrong.

Honestly the whole aim is to get to the magic land of the Premier league bit with some of these tales i would rather just get to the Championship rather than walk away from my club because they dont care .............and tbh i bet a fair few fans who have seen various clubs rise to the top have fooked it off because the club decided money was worth more than being loyal

It kills me what we have become. I mean, i know its a consequence of our success and i wouldnt swap a single second but match days have drained me.
First to go 100% is champs league. Boring as fuck and then the big games are full of tourists. The real madrid game confirmed what i already knew, out of the scheme next year.

Then big league games like yesterday have the same feel.
And its not just inside the ground.
Public transport, parking, access. Its like the club/council are doing everything they can to make it all feel shit.

Ive had a season ticket all the way through from 1985. But one thing i can promise you all, and i know this absolutely factually as heard it from the horses mouth; the bean counters dont care about us and care about a bum on a seat spending money.

Said this before, the men at the top are BRILLIANT at their jobs but none are blues, some arent even football fans , so they dont/wont understand where WE are coming from. Snd i realised this when i said to one of the men near the top when in his company, “pisses me off that you keep increasing SC prices when united have froze theirs for years”. His reply, “yes but they are shit”, and laughed.

So there you have it, whilst we experience success they dont give a fuck and we will pay for it.
Be interesting if we have a proper dip, which is possible, and when the tourists slope off, will the bean counters come creeping back round us?
It's only going to get worse throughout the entire PL as all the clubs being takeover by the rich owners who haven't got a clue about what football means to most long suffering supporters who work hard all week just to let off steam with their mates at the games ,the owners have never got up at 5am on a Saturday morning , after a 5/6 hour binge after work on a Friday, just to travel up to Newcastle or down to Brighton in the hope of seeing your team win and having a good day out ,all they want is an bunch of knob heads who will pay over the top prices for tickets ,hospitality and in the club shop/outlets and still be hanging around the ground spending money 2/3 hours after full time ,us working class people are not wanted anymore ,we need something to change sharpish or we will be walked all over by these owners and the cnuts they employ to run the clubs ,I've never been so fed up with the Premier League as I am at this moment ,I'm off to watch my local team on Saturday where I can stand on the largest terrace left in English football and shout ,swear , fuck about ,take the piss out friends and generally enjoy football the way it should be .

I posted this not long ago:

Post in thread 'Priced out?'
https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/priced-out.365058/post-17737859

I hope it happens. The boardrooms of all our clubs in the PL deserve it.

Fuck em , you get 3000 tickets. The rest of them if they do go in home end keep your mouth shut, I work as a steward at football matches so have dealt with this. Id still expect a twatting if I was in home end celebrating

Spot on fella. Did it plenty when we were in the old third division and would struggle to get a ticket in our end so would buy a ticket in the home end and keep my mouth shut. No mither.

Only time I thought different was PNE away and a couple of blues got up celebrating when we equalised and the locals rightly got a bit upset - couldn’t see a blue getting a pasting so figured I’d have to get stuck in and it would end up with me getting a right kicking meself but fortunately the stewards were on their toes and moved them before it all kicked off and I still got to keep my looks ;)
