Next season 25/26

My main worry is will City and the players have the correct recovery time ? Will the new players have time to 'get' Pep ?

I think from the end of the club world cup to the start of the season is only 4 weeks.
Yeah which is bollocks. Bet if it was one of the Red cartel they would have been given some dispensation by the corrupt PL

Next season will (needs to be) completely different, starting with tactics. The game has moved on, it took a few years but Pep's possession based football has been countered as teams have become more able to press us.I still think Pep is the man for the job though, and no doubt he's already coming up with a series of cunning plans

On a positive note (is that allowed after yesterday?) it seems the groundwork is being prepared well for the imminent squad rebuild. Mahmoush, Nico and Khush are looking to have settled quickly and are all doing fine. If we can continue recruitment over the summer at that level we'll be OK.

Three big issues to solve for me, how to replace Kev, what to do with Phil Foden (can he only perform to his highest standard when he's playing alongside DeBruyne?) and do we persevere with fast Eddie in goal? I'm guessing the third one will be highly dependant on whether Pep Ball mark II requires a sweeper keeper or one who can actually save shots on a regular basis.

Tottenham on Wednesday is our final midweek game of the season. After that we are pretty much in pre-season for next season. We can have proper training sessions working on tactics, new ideas, integrating the young lads and the new lads, getting the best out of what we have now for consecutive days for the first time in ages, and just play games at weekends only.

We’ve had that many players out injured for long spells this season that none of them need any more rest than they’ve already had, so for them, the one game a week we’re going to have through March, April and May and then then Club World Cup in June and July is ideal to get those players back to full fitness.

Bobb missed 42 games all comps / 27 PL
Rodri 39 all / 25 PL
Aké 24 all / 17 PL
DeBruyne 24 all / 9 PL
Stones 22 all / 16 PL
Doku 18 all / 10 PL
Dias 17 all / 12 PL
Grealish 17 all / 11 PL
Ederson 14 all / 10 PL
Akanji 12 all / 7 PL
Foden 8 all / 6 PL
(+Foden only started 2 of our first 10 games due to illness. He played: 45’ 0’ 0’ 0’ 45’ 20’ 24’ 78’ 78’ 24’ to start the season, and missed four games in November/December, and was miles off it throughout the entire time. I don’t think it’s rest he needs, it’s games).

The worries are burn out for players like Gvardiol and Haaland who seem to play every game (until Haaland in the last week). Maybe they’re the ones who can start getting rotated and rested between now and the Club World Cup?

Then, with a few more additions in the Summer, we’ll be more ready to get into next season than we would be if we were in all four competitions still now struggling with all our injuries.

Riiiggghhht!

Just done a quick google of this Sacha fellow and he predicted Lavia to Liverpool (didn’t happen) and Calafiori to Juventus (didn’t happen).

I’m calling bullshit.
Hopefully it isnt bull shit, i find hard to disagree with any of them leaving personally.

Haaland had a big break last summer re Norway being shite.

The number of games missed is shocking btw.

The home game vs Leicester City ( scheduled for Wednesday April 2nd) is a mid- week game.

Depends how we use the CWC and whether we try to play any other pre season games.
Ideally we have a couple of weeks off, use the CWC as a pre season, maybe another 2 week break then the 2 weeks before the season working on fitness but also working with the new players on tactics .
We might not do that but I’m sure we can work it so it isn’t detrimental. Plus we get an earlier window to get the new players in before it starts if we get a move on.
What we shouldn't do is take any players we think really need a long break.

Our biggest problem is gonna be those we want out still in contract.
Walker is stinking the place out in Milan so he will be back.
Grealish on £300k per week is going nowhere on a permanent deal.
Perma crock John Stones with 11 appearances this season and out till the summer on the best part of £200k pw etc etc.

If those plus the others are still in contract they will go on loan with us paying a big chunk of wages.

Gonna be very messy.

We’ll be fine.

Even with the inevitable wholesale squad changes, we’ll easily beat the likes of Barnet, Eastleigh and Solihull Moors.

Not sure the majority of fans are bothered about CWC but the club obviously are……

Haven’t we been instructed we have to field our best players/strongest team?

It will be the 3rd season running that City players will have missed out on a full pre-season and this might underlie our current fitness problems. It's very difficult to say.

At first I really liked the idea of a World Club Cup but it is incompatible with the fixture schedule.

All been told to find another club along with at least 4 more.

Yes, not sure how that works though, KDB will be out of contract, but others that are leaving, maybe 8 players can agree deals with other clubs and can register with them from 1 July, then if we say others aren’t fit then they aren’t fit.
