I honestly think that some of our fans have a hard time understanding just how easy it is for footballers to become multi millionaires nowadays.

£20m a year plus bonuses, rights, endorsements etc. Football is fucking crazy.

"Kinda sad..."? KDB and his millionaire peers need 'golden paydays' about as much I need another hole in my arse.
Absolutely right. “We should pay whatever it takes”. “Ticket prices are ridiculous “. Same people…….

He’ll always be a legend and one of our greatest players, whether he goes now which I think he will and should, or stays a year as a squad play coming on fot 10/15 minutes here and there. Does’t make the slightest difference to any right minded fan IMO.

Love the guy but 15 minute cameo roles would be embarrassing for ginger and the fans….

Spot on, people on here seem to think he has played for nothing.

400K a week ffs, is that not enough loyalty from us?

True…so sad to see his rapid demise
To be fair I am not sure it's a rapid decline.

He had a purple patch when he came back from the hamstring op and he looked fit, healthy and motivated, but after a month that started to change, and his performances started to tail off.

I think he should have gones last summer, on a high of another title, he looks like he would even struggle to play in the MLS over 90 mins as not only is his body broken but he looks to be out of love with the game.

Obviously a shame to see his decline.
However, he will not be remembered for this season, in the same way Colin Bell was not defined by his largely failed comeback from injury. He will be forever revered for his power, artistry, skill and ability.
What a player he has been!
Fans should be delighted to have seen him in his pomp and grateful that he played for us and gave so much genuine pleasure.

Perhaps I’m looking through blue tinted glasses…..though this season performances seem to been a lot worse than last…..

It's been coming for two seasons. A few of us have said as much on here for months and have been shouted down.
It's just become more obvious now. Even the most blue tinted happy clappers must see that he's finished at PL level.

Played his part in last season's run in. His last injury at the start of the season was the final straw but in the past he always bounced back.

Cant help thinking there's still an underlying problem. His technical ability and how cleanly he strikes a ball has been above anyone we've seen in the premier league. That shouldn't just disappear regardless of age, especially at 33.

The burst of pace, yes, thats clearly gone and he will have to adapt his game for that, but he should still be able to ping passes and fire off shots.

Kev always had the ability to look tired even after we had just kicked off, however now he genuinely is tired 5 minutes after we have kicked off.

All great things come to an and and Kev was greater than most.
