Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

How anyone can disallow that after VAR is beyond belief. It is like there is a race to the bottom every week for these absolute morons.

I understand it only gets disallowed because the absolute buffoon gives it as the on-field decision, but when VAR then gives the **** the benefit of x-ray vision you know the game has completely gone.

Other than that, good first half. Shades of the new City.

Shit 2nd half, rode our luck. But I do think Pep decided to give some of these the experience to try and see the result out and it worked out just about. Nunes, Khus and Eddie very good. Dias and Gvardiol pretty solid all things considered.

Bit brave pushing Nico up and having Kova hold, worked in the first half as intended. 2nd half not so much. Wingers very good first half. Haaland the difference all though his performance in the 2nd half was largely rubbish and should have had at least one more.

I do think the future is bright, but a rocky road still

The pictures were inconclusive. When that happens, they stick with the on field call.

The problem was the referee, not VAR.

The emotive “it would have been given against us” angle is pointless and just there to inflame the rhetoric.
VAR: I can't see a handball at all ref.
REF: Yeah well l thought I did in real time so let's stick with that yeah?
VAR: Seriously I mean, there is no handball
REF: Well I've blown the whistle so let's move on.
VAR: We have these monitor things you can look at if you want?
REF: Nah, it's city so fuck em.

What a system.

Five seconds, we could have scored five in that amount of time. Time how long it takes to put a whistle in your mouth, even allowing for thinking time.

The balls already dead, I’m not sure what difference it makes? He may well have been talking to his assistant.

The time he takes isn’t an issue at all. The decision is.

It's the same nonsense you see in every other sport.

Way too much deference is given to the original ref decision.

It's absolutely ridiculous given how many screw-ups refs make in real time.

Here's how it should work: once a VAR check is initiated, the original call on the pitch should be COMPLETELY disregarded, and VAR team should use their 69 different camera angles to determine what the most likely correct call is, and go with that.

It shouldn't be rocket surgery but of course the powers that be have to overcomplicate everything.

Yet they can overturn a blatant penalty awarded to Everton even though there was no clear and obvious error.

It's a complete farce.
So it’s not clear and obvious what he saw, heard or was instructed by VAR who didn’t see anything wrong with the goal so stick with your original decision whatever that was if you can even remember, say that again……fuck it it’s city no goal

It should have been done and dusted by half time against a poor Spurs side.
Savinho is a great player but he's useless at finishing. He's either off target or it's a little feeble shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Great result, well done Pep, 6/9 pts against Newcastle, Liverpool and Spurs. Not bad at all considering.
Throw in the Arsenal and Chelsea results and it's 9/15 - the same return as if we'd beaten Chelsea and Newcastle and drawn with Liverpool, Arsenal (A), and Spurs (A). I know most of the performances haven't been good enough, but getting through this really tough stretch of games with that record would be decent during most of our title-winning seasons.

Even Rugby doesn’t have that to be fair.
