It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

I think for a 3 year deal on a free transfer is as good as a you are going to get for a Bosman transfer.

Only just turned 30 so still got a good few years left, and we are going to lose a lot of experience in the summer.

Nahh we don't want another older player
If it’s like 1 in 4 out you can’t complain at that. We still need experience and leaders!!

Bayern gonna use their wage offer to Kimmich to help fund their bid for Wirtz then.
Yeah that’s sort of the way I read it. They’ve secured Musiala now need the cash for Wirtz. Both Kimmich and Sane gone.

Over 3 years his wages would be closer to £60m, as he`s asking for more than €400k a week. Hardly a free signing. His wages would probably be double of whoever the alternative would be
Let’s say he wanted €400k a week, that’s because he was on big money at Bayern already and wanted to renew. It’s now a lot easier if they are out.

Even back then he never really stood out in that position. He was definitely weaker there than in the middle or on either side - which is totally normal of course. Sometimes I think he pays the price for being so versatile.
It’s not his best position I’ll grant you that but he did play well there. Not sure on the paying the price for being versatile though. We know pep likes his players to be versatile. Loads of players have played multiple positions and nailed down a place in the team. I’ve no worries with Foden, I’m sure he’ll be back to his best next year.

My only worry, and it’s the same for the whole squad, is that they won’t have enough time to recover with the CWC this summer and then the season starting straight after. Hopefully players like Khusanov, Reis, Nico, Echeverri and Marmoush can all take the strain a bit. They’ve not been on the same hamster wheel as the rest of the squad. It might even be good for Rodri and Bobb to get minutes.

He's almost 5 years younger than Kyle Walker.

His stats suggest he's still one of Bayern's best performing players, and he's got a good injury record.

Echeverri and Reis are 19, Kushanov and Savinho are 20, Doku 22, Gonzalez and Gvardiol 23. Most of our recent purchases have been pretty young, apart from Kovacic, and bringing back Gundo (who most people assume is likely to leave, or move into much more of a backup role), so one 30 year old isn't a big issue.

Nope that's what the scum did buy older players on massive wages am not interested one bit and city won't be either

A balanced midfield of youth, player at peak age can also be supplemented by a 30 year old Kimmich who is still a very good player and in the DM position I wonder if he is slower than Rodri (a few years younder). I still think we need another 2 and would really like Wharton and Wirtz so going into next season we have the followuing: Rodri, Kimmich, Gonzalez, Wharton, Wirzt and Foden as DMs, CMs and AMs

City won't be interested
50/50.

Given the current situation and need to re invest but also invest in youth you could argue a 30 year old is great, you could say we need the leadership and experience. Also a free transfer is massively helpful when looking at buying restructuring the squad.

We’ve looked before and knows Pep but will be Viana’s first proper window as Txiki was running January with his involvement.

I don’t think this is as straight forward as City won’t be interested, he’s too old, he costs too much money. If he hasn’t signed for anyone when we start doing deals and we know the outgoings he could easily be signed.

I know he’s not the new MO of young, physical players but still, his experience and genuine ability would be brilliant. Knows Pep too.

And a leader. And free.

There's always a reason why clubs like RM and Bayern let top class players go. Especially to clubs who could rival them in the Champions League

They've tried to keep him and have been asking him to sign a contract up until this week. Same with Musiala who only signed a new deal last week.

I assume Bayern have announced it that way to save face and avoid the embarrassment (because of their ego) of it being known that Kimmich's left them for dead to leave on a freebie.

Make them a McAtee offer in a package with Bernardo or Kovačić plus money for Wirtz and Hincapie.

I think the Leverkusen management would be pleased.

I can see Kimmich in a squad that loses multiple veteran players in Kovacic, Bernardo, Gundogan, de Bruyne, and Walker. I hope it wouldnt be in lieu of signing a promising younger player but instead with the understanding that each position on the field is going from ~5300 to a possible 6000 minutes required to see out a season.
