At this point, nobody’s changing their minds, even if City are found not guilty of the real charges (I don’t count the “obstruction” nonsense). It's all above Rob fucking Harris's pay grade quote frankly (you can tell by how he floundered when having to moderate the discussion "on the fly") but if the outcome is total vindication spun in the press as due to expensive lawyers, obstruction and complexity, I doubt the club would have an issue with that.
Those in Blue will shout “Vindication!”
Everyone else will shout “Cheats got off!” and have their reasons lined up in advance. “Fix was in, Brown envelope Brigade wins again, Govt couldn’t let City be guilty because of Abu Dhabi relationships and billions in foreign trade, etc, etc, etc…”
In the court of public opinion, which is tribal to say the least, the outcome only matters if they can point to a guilty verdict and claim vindication of their victimhood. Then, of course, comes the cry for removal of titles and their re-awarding to the Red Shirts, relegation and a €1Bn fine, etc, etc, etc…
The papers can’t wait. Opposition fans can’t wait. And, any guilty verdict will leave City fans forced into being attacked and on the defensive.
Much as with the CAS verdict, those who thought we were guilty and got off on technicalities will run rampant again and there’s little we can do about it.
Here’s hoping for a positive outcome for City, because anything else will make others insufferable.
